Update on rice prices on 10/03/2024
Rice prices in the domestic market, showed mixed fluctuations with an increase in rice prices but a decrease in paddy prices.
Paddy prices today (October 3) recorded a decrease of VND 100 - 300. Specifically:
Meanwhile, rice prices on October 3 rebounded, increasing by VND 100 - 200.
In the export market, rice prices decreased by $ 5/ton across the board. Accordingly, 100% broken rice fell to $ 449/ton; standard 5% broken rice is priced at $ 557/ton. Meanwhile, the price of 25% broken rice has dropped to $ 525/ton.

On October 2, the Dak Lak Plant Cultivation and Protection Sub-Department (Dak Lak Department of Agriculture and Rural Development) organized the conclusion of the training course for farmers (FFS) on integrated pest management (IPM) in summer-autumn rice for the year 2024.
The class had 30 participants who were farmers directly involved in production. The training lasted for 14 sessions throughout the rice season, coinciding with important times in the development stages of the rice plant.
In the course, the participants were guided on how to investigate the ecosystem and collect samples of pests, and beneficial organisms in the practice field of the class. The students drew and discussed the demonstration rice ecosystem (IPM and farmers), proposing management measures that yield economic efficiency through group discussions, followed by each group presenting and discussing in front of the class.
The class introduced the concepts and basic principles of integrated pest management (IPM) and provided guidance on soaking, and sowing in model fields; some main pests and diseases affecting rice; the impact of pesticides on human health; a basic understanding of pesticides used on rice plants; economic thresholds and risk assessment, productivity evaluation; technical measures to enhance crop health and manage pests.
