Rice prices on October 3 domestically

Rice prices in the domestic market, showed mixed fluctuations with an increase in rice prices but a decrease in paddy prices.

Paddy prices today (October 3) recorded a decrease of VND 100 - 300. Specifically:

  • Long An sticky rice (dry) is priced at VND 9,800 - 10,000/kg; Long An IR 4625 sticky rice (dry) is priced at VND 9,500 - 9,700/kg;
  • IR 50404 paddy is around VND 6,900 - 7,000/kg (down VND 300); fragrant rice Dai thơm 8 is at VND 7,800 - 8,000/kg (down VND 200);
  • OM 5451 paddy is trading at VND 7,200 - 7,400/kg (down VND 300); OM 18 paddy is priced at VND 7,500 - 7,800/kg;
  • OM 380 paddy remains around VND 7,200 - 7,300/kg; Japanese paddy is at VND 7,800 - 8,000/kg;
  • Nang Nhen paddy (dry) is trading at VND 20,000/kg; while Nang Hoa 9 is priced at VND 6,900 - 7,000/kg.

Meanwhile, rice prices on October 3 rebounded, increasing by VND 100 - 200.

  • Raw IR 504 He Thu rice is priced at VND 9,800 - 10,000/kg (up VND 100 - 200); finished IR 504 rice is at VND 12,300 - 12,500/kg (up VND 100);
  • Sticky glutinous rice is currently at VND 18,000 - 22,000/kg; common rice is at VND 15,000 - 16,000/kg; Nang Nhen rice is priced at VND 28,000/kg.
  • Long-grain fragrant rice is priced at VND 20,000 - 22,000/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice is priced at VND 18,000 - 20,000/kg; Huong Lai rice remains at VND 18,000/kg.
  • Common white rice is purchased at VND 17,000/kg; Nang Hoa rice is at VND 20,000/kg; Soc common rice maintains a level of VND 18,000 - 18,500/kg; while Soc Thai rice is at VND 21,000/kg.
  • Taiwan fragrant rice is priced at VND 21,000/kg; Japanese rice is currently at VND 22,000/kg.
  • Finally, OM 5451 broken rice is priced at VND 9,500 - 9,600/kg (down VND 100), while dry bran is priced at VND 6,000 - 6,100/kg (up VND 50).

In the export market, rice prices decreased by $ 5/ton across the board. Accordingly, 100% broken rice fell to $ 449/ton; standard 5% broken rice is priced at $ 557/ton. Meanwhile, the price of 25% broken rice has dropped to $ 525/ton.

Thus, rice prices on 10/03/2024, in the domestic market showed mixed fluctuations compared to yesterday.

Dozens of farmers in Dak Lak participated in training on pest management in rice cultivation.

On October 2, the Dak Lak Plant Cultivation and Protection Sub-Department (Dak Lak Department of Agriculture and Rural Development) organized the conclusion of the training course for farmers (FFS) on integrated pest management (IPM) in summer-autumn rice for the year 2024.

The class had 30 participants who were farmers directly involved in production. The training lasted for 14 sessions throughout the rice season, coinciding with important times in the development stages of the rice plant.

In the course, the participants were guided on how to investigate the ecosystem and collect samples of pests, and beneficial organisms in the practice field of the class. The students drew and discussed the demonstration rice ecosystem (IPM and farmers), proposing management measures that yield economic efficiency through group discussions, followed by each group presenting and discussing in front of the class.

The class introduced the concepts and basic principles of integrated pest management (IPM) and provided guidance on soaking, and sowing in model fields; some main pests and diseases affecting rice; the impact of pesticides on human health; a basic understanding of pesticides used on rice plants; economic thresholds and risk assessment, productivity evaluation; technical measures to enhance crop health and manage pests.
