Phụ nữ và trẻ em gái, đặc biệt tại khu vực nông thôn, đang là nhóm chịu tác động rõ nét hơn từ biến đổi khí hậu khi khả năng tiếp cận đất đai, nguồn vốn, kỹ thuật sản xuất và cơ hội tham gia quá trình ra quyết định còn nhiều hạn chế.

Women and girls, especially in rural areas, are among the groups most affected by climate change. They still face major barriers in accessing land, financial resources, production technologies, and opportunities to take part in decision-making processes.
However, in the green transition, rather than simply being seen as a group in need of support, women are gradually becoming a key force in developing sustainable livelihood models, managing natural resources, and strengthening climate resilience within communities

“Trong tất cả các nhóm đối tượng thì phụ nữ, trẻ em gái là những đối tượng dễ bị tổn thương nhất. Lĩnh vực sản xuất nông nghiệp là một trong những lĩnh vực bị ảnh hưởng nặng nề nhất, trong khi phụ nữ và trẻ em gái lại là lực lượng lao động chủ yếu tại các khu vực này.

“Among all affected groups, women and girls are among the most vulnerable. Agriculture is one of the sectors hardest hit by climate change, while women and girls make up much of the workforce in these areas.
As a result, they are often the ones facing the greatest impacts. At the same time, their close connection to agricultural production and local livelihoods also gives them valuable experience in adapting to climate change. That is why our projects focus on strengthening the role of women in driving the green transition and developing practical solutions suited to local conditions.
Women are the ones who can put forward proposals and initiatives that are suitable for local conditions and aligned with the realities of their activities across different economic sectors, especially agriculture.”

Theo Oxfam Việt Nam, việc thúc đẩy vai trò của phụ nữ trong chuyển đổi xanh không chỉ mang ý nghĩa về bình đẳng giới, mà còn góp phần nâng cao hiệu quả thích ứng khí hậu và phát triển bền vững tại địa phương.
Từ thực tế đó, Liên minh châu Âu đã và đang triển khai Dự án “Hỗ trợ các sáng kiến về chuyển đổi xanh do phụ nữ dẫn dắt” tại Việt Nam. Dự án có 3 đợt kêu gọi, với tối đa 65 sáng kiến được hỗ trợ. Mỗi mô hình có thể nhận mức tài trợ lên tới 1,8 tỷ đồng, tập trung vào các lĩnh vực như nông nghiệp thích ứng biến đổi khí hậu, sinh kế bền vững, năng lượng tái tạo và kinh tế tuần hoàn.
According to Oxfam in Viet Nam, promoting women’s role in the green transition is not only a matter of gender equality, but also contributes to improving climate adaptation and sustainable development at the local level.
Based on this reality, the European Union has launched the “Project on supporting women-led green initiatives (PWG)” in Viet Nam. The project includes three calls for proposals, with up to 65 initiatives expected to receive support. Each initiative may receive funding of up to VND 1.8 billion, focusing on areas such as climate-resilient agriculture, sustainable livelihoods, renewable energy, and the circular economy.

What we really want to emphasize is that the project must create an impact for women, because it focuses on gender equality. What does it mean for women to lead in the circular economy and sustainable agriculture? It means that in many projects in the past, women were only beneficiaries. Thông qua các sáng kiến quy mô nhỏ, các địa phương có thêm điều kiện thử nghiệm những mô hình sản xuất xanh phù hợp với điều kiện thực tế, đồng thời tăng khả năng tiếp cận công nghệ, kỹ thuật và tri thức mới cho phụ nữ và người dân địa phương. Đặc biệt, các khoản hỗ trợ không chỉ dừng ở việc tạo ra mô hình thí điểm hay hỗ trợ ngắn hạn cho người thụ hưởng, mà còn hướng tới nâng cao năng lực để các tổ chức, nhóm phụ nữ và cộng đồng địa phương có thể tiếp tục duy trì, nhân rộng sáng kiến sau khi dự án kết thúc.
Through these small-scale initiatives, local communities have more opportunities to pilot green production models suited to local conditions, while also improving women’s and local residents’ access to technology, technical knowledge, and new expertise. Importantly, the support goes beyond creating pilot models or providing short-term assistance to beneficiaries. It also aims to strengthen the capacity of organizations, women’s groups, and local communities so they can continue maintaining and scaling up these initiatives after the project ends.
