Currently, Tuyen Quang province has about 4,500 dairy cows, total fresh milk production is 17,100 tons per year. Caring procedures are carried out strictly according to safety standards, both domestically and internationally.

Dairy cows in Tuyen Quang province are concentrated mainly on 4 farms, including: The dairy farm of Ho Toan Joint Stock Company; Phu Lam dairy farm of Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk); dairy farm of Future Milk Co., Ltd. (Future Milk); Hoang Khai dairy farm.

The farms are increasingly invested in high technology, providing a stable and good quality milk source annually for large milk processing companies such as Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company, TH True Milk Group, etc.

The dairy farm of Ho Toan Joint Stock Company has about 2,000 cows, of which nearly 500 are milked with milk output of over 13.5 tons per day. Livestock production on the farm is applying information technology techniques and specific software in animal husbandry. Each cow is attached with an electronic chip to manage and control diet, nutrition, disease, and milk yield.

Ho Toan Joint Stock Company strives to grow to 2,700 cows by 2023 to have super high-yielding seed herds with high milk yield, meeting the company's requirements.

Luong Huy Toan, General Director of Ho Toan Joint Stock Company, says that the farm always ensures a good diet, feeding on time and with the right portion. Depending on the type of cows such as high yielding cows, low yielding cows, calves, cows waiting for mating, etc., they need to be fed separate diets to ensure their health. The farm's raw feed material area has about 11 hectares of grass. With this area, there is not enough feed material, so the farm buys corn and grass from the people living in the area. In order to control feed safety, the sources of grass and corn are imported through the KCS (check - quality - products) system for each lot.

Thanks to implementing the standardized care process, currently, the farm's fresh milk is purchased by Vinamilk company for VND 14,800 per liter. On average, 1 dairy cow in dairy farm of Ho Toan Joint Stock Company gives 31.7 to 31.8 liters of milk per day. The total milk output supplied to the market is more than 4,500 tons each year.

The dairy farm of Future Milk has nearly 700 milking cows. In order to ensure a nutritious diet for the herd, in addition to ready-made food, the company signs contracts with grass-growing and maize-growing households in the area to provide more green food. The dairy farm is buying more than 10 tons of grass and about 20 tons of corn for the cows daily. Each day, 1 dairy cow provides over 32 kilograms of milk, the whole herd's output reaches over 21 tons of fresh milk each day.

The company is planning to expand the livestock scale to about 3,000 cows in the next year. The climate and the soil in Tuyen Quang province are assessed suitable for developing dairy cows, leaders of the Future Milk assess.

Tuyen Quang province has many advantages in terms of soil and climate conditions to develop the dairy sector. The province has set a goal that by 2023, the output of fresh cow's milk will reach over 20,000 tons. To meet the feed demand for cows, the province plans from 250 to 310 hectares of forage growing areas in Yen Son and Son Duong districts.

The province will also implement preferential policies to develop the dairy industry, in which, there are policies to support the application of advanced livestock technical measures, transfer of scientific and technical advances in animal husbandry; modern management measures in caring, nurturing and disease prevention for cows. At the same time, the province will introduce favorable conditions for all economic sectors to participate in the development of dairy farming, etc.
