Pepper prices on January 21 domestically

The domestic pepper market on January 21, 2025, continues to maintain stability in key production areas. Pepper prices today range from VND 145,000 to VND 146,000/kg, unchanged from the previous trading session.

Specifically:

Central Highlands region:

  • Pepper price in Dak Lak: VND 145,500/kg.
  • Pepper price in Gia Lai: VND 145,000/kg.
  • Pepper price in Dak Nong: The highest in the region at VND 146,000/kg.

Southeast region:

  • Pepper price in Ba Ria - Vung Tau: The highest nationwide at VND 146,000/kg.
  • Pepper price in Binh Phuoc: Stable at VND 145,000/kg.
  • Pepper price in Dong Nai: VND 145,000/kg.

Thus, the highest pepper prices today are recorded in Dak Nong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau at VND 146,000/kg, while the lowest prices are VND 145,000/kg, noted in Gia Lai, Binh Phuoc, and Dong Nai.

According to data from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), domestic pepper prices in the last three months of 2024 remained at VND 140,000 – 150,000/kg, showing a significant increase compared to the beginning of the year (black pepper increased by 75.6% and white pepper by 68.8%). Export prices experienced similar growth, with black pepper rising by 30.7% and white pepper by 28.6%.

Statistics from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association reveal that in the first 15 days of January 2025, Vietnam exported 7,313 tons of pepper, generating a total revenue of $48.3 million. This represents a 3% decrease in volume but a 61.86% increase in value compared to the same period in 2024.

Among exporters, Nedspice Vietnam was the largest, exporting 853 tons, while the United States remained the primary export market with 1,562 tons.

 

Pepper prices on January 21 globally

On the global market, pepper prices on January 21, 2025, show slight fluctuations in some major producing countries. According to updates from the International Pepper Community (IPC), the prices are as follows:

Indonesia:

  • Black pepper from Lampung increased slightly, reaching $ 7,115/ton (up $ 2/ton).
  • White pepper from Muntok saw a significant rise, now trading at $ 9,401/ton (up $ 208/ton).

Malaysia:

  • ASTA black pepper prices remained stable at $ 9,000/ton.
  • ASTA white pepper continued to maintain the highest price in the world, at $ 11,600/ton.

Brazil:

  • ASTA 570 black pepper dropped significantly by $ 200/ton, now priced at $ 6,150/ton.

Vietnam:

  • Black pepper type 500 g/l remained steady at $ 6,350/ton.
  • Black pepper type 550 g/l was stable at $ 6,650/ton.
  • White pepper continued to hold steady at $ 9,550/ton.
