Worldwide, pepper prices on February 7 saw a strong increase in Brazil.
Specifically, the price of black pepper Lampung in Indonesia remained at $ 7,282/ton, while white pepper Muntok held steady at $ 9,780/ton.
Malaysia’s black pepper Kuching ASTA was priced at $ 9,000/ton, while its white pepper ASTA stood at $ 11,600/ton.
In the Brazilian market, the price of black pepper ASTA 570 traded at $ 6,400/ton (up 1.56%).
In Vietnam, export black pepper prices declined across the board, with the 500 g/l variety trading at $ 6,500/ton, while the 550 g/l variety was at $ 6,650/ton. Similarly, white pepper for export stood at $ 9,550/ton.
Global pepper prices today saw a strong increase only in Brazilian black pepper, while prices remained unchanged in other countries.
Thus, global pepper prices on February 7, 2025, showed little fluctuation compared to yesterday.
In Vietnam, pepper prices on February 7 continued to rise sharply compared to yesterday.
Latest domestic and global pepper price update on February 7, 2025
Specifically, Dak Lak rose to VND 153,000/kg, up VND 2,000;
Dak Nong's pepper price increased by VND 1,500, reaching VND 153,000/kg;
Gia Lai's pepper price traded at VND 151,000/kg, up VND 1,000;
Increasing by VND 2,000, Dong Nai traders purchased pepper at VND 152,000/kg;
Ba Ria - Vung Tau's pepper price reached VND 152,000/kg, up VND 2,000;
Meanwhile, Binh Phuoc traders traded at VND 152,000/kg, also up VND 2,000.
Domestic pepper prices today continued their strong upward trend, increasing by VND 1,000 - 2,000, easily pushing this agricultural product to the high mark of VND 153,000/kg.
Due to the Lunar New Year holiday, both export and import activities for pepper in January 2025 declined.
According to preliminary statistics from VPSA, Vietnam exported 13,085 tons of various types of pepper this month, including 10,502 tons of black pepper and 2,583 tons of white pepper. The total export turnover reached $ 87.7 million, down 14.3% compared to December 2024 and down 26.4% year-on-year.
Conversely, in January 2025, Vietnam imported 1,817 tons of pepper, including 753 tons of black pepper and 1,064 tons of white pepper, with a total import turnover of $ 10.9 million, down 51.5% compared to December 2024.
Indonesia remained the primary supplier of pepper to Vietnam, accounting for 73.6% with 1,338 tons, though this was a 56.4% decline from the previous month.
Thus, as of February 7, 2025, domestic pepper prices are trading around VND 151,000 - 153,000/kg.
