On the morning of August 23 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in coordination with the People’s Committee of Hanoi, launched the campaign “All People Participate in Environmental Protection for a Bright – Green – Clean – Beautiful Vietnam,” following Prime Minister’s Directive No. 134/CĐ-TTg dated August 13, 2025. In response, the People’s Committee of Nghia Do Ward mobilized over 100 youth union members, women’s union members, and local residents to clean up several areas and main streets in the ward. [Interview – Youth Union Member 1] Student Pham Minh Chau “Today my friends and I, as young union members, came here to respond to the campaign launching ceremony calling on all people to protect the environment. I feel this program is very meaningful, especially on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Day marking the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. Participating in activities like this can spread the message and meaning of protecting the environment and keeping the air and surroundings green, clean, and beautiful. We need to start cleaning from the simplest things, such as from our homes to the streets.” |
[Interview – Youth Union Member 2] Student Ngo Ngoc Khanh Linh “My neighbors and I, from the same residential group, came together to sweep and clean our living area. With this campaign launch, I hope to send a message to young people and citizens nationwide to jointly protect and preserve a greener, cleaner, and more beautiful environment.” Waste collection, treatment, and sanitation work in many localities have seen positive changes, contributing to improved urban and residential landscapes and better living quality for residents. For people in Nghia Do Ward and Hanoi in general, weekend clean-up and community sanitation have become a regular routine. [Interview – Neighborhood Group Leader] Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hop “As a residential group, the group leader must first mobilize residents to carry out total environmental sanitation and keep the neighborhood green and clean. This is to protect the environment for everyone in our ward of Nghia Do in particular, for Hanoi in general, and for all our residential areas to remain green, clean, and beautiful.” |
[Interview – Vice Chairman, People’s Committee of Nghia Do Ward] Mr. Hoang Trung Kien – Vice Chairman, People’s Committee of Nghia Do Ward “Following the city’s directives, we must find ways to revive the Tô Lịch River while also carrying out environmental sanitation campaigns throughout the ward, focusing on keeping both sides of the river and the entire ward area neat and clean. We have coordinated with the Fatherland Front to mobilize its political and social organizations, their members, and residents living along the river and across the ward to come out every Saturday for environmental sanitation activities.” Recently, Hanoi has promoted many practical movements and models such as: “Five-no Streets” (no smoke, no litter, no noise, no encroachment, with green space); the “Green Weekend” movement; tree-planting activities in response to Uncle Ho’s call “For the benefit of ten years, plant trees; for the benefit of a hundred years, cultivate people”; and neighborhood initiatives for collective sanitation and waste sorting at source. These activities are spreading a strong sense of community responsibility. Particularly, during the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, the image of Hanoi as “Civilized – Cultured – Modern,” with its friendly and hospitable people, has reached every family, every street, and every corner. |
