The People's Committee of Hanoi has assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to organize communication and legal education activities related to biodiversity conservation in protected areas and natural heritage sites across the city. Concurrently, relevant units are responsible for compiling and reporting implementation results in accordance with regulations.
One of the project's key focuses is maintaining ecosystems and expanding habitats within the Huong Son Nature Reserve to protect the white-cheeked gibbon, an endangered and rare species found in the Huong Son special-use forest. In parallel, efforts will be made to conserve wild birds and migratory birds and their habitats in the Van Lang mid-island area. The implementation period will last from 2026 to 2030.
During this time, the city will increase investment in forest protection infrastructure, build a smart monitoring system, and develop a digital biodiversity database to support research, conservation, and management efforts.
Regarding the development of ecotourism, the Department of Tourism has been tasked with developing tourism product linkage models among protected areas and natural heritage sites in the Red River Delta region. Hanoi will promote ecotourism at Ba Vi National Park while developing community-based tourism associated with agriculture and rural areas and leveraging the cultural and spiritual value of the Huong Son Complex (Huong Pagoda) located in Huong Son Commune.
In addition, businesses will be encouraged to invest in and develop environmentally friendly tours. These efforts are expected to create sustainable livelihoods for local communities through green tourism activities.
The People's Committee of Hanoi has requested relevant departments, sectors, and local People's Committees to proactively coordinate, based on their functions and responsibilities, to effectively implement the project's contents. This initiative aims to contribute to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity resources while promoting the natural values of the Red River Delta region.
