Recently, Loc Troi Group has collaborated with Eurofins Sac Ky Hai Dang Limited Company to deploy a project to specify rice varieties of Vietnam that can be exported to Europe under the European Union and Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA). This work will guarantee the legality for Vietnam’s rice varieties, avoid disputes and falsifications of quality and origin of Vietnam’s rice in international markets.
Under the project, Loc Troi Group will collaborate with Eurofins to collect varieties of Vietnam’s rice being exported to Europe according to the EVFTA. Once collected, those seeds will be sent to firms specialized in residue analysis of high quality rice in Germany. There, they will be confirmed for DNA.
The results will be used by custom office of import country to control the right type of goods, to deal with trade disputes and to contribute to protect copyright of owner of varieties. This DNA is also the basis for recognizing the plant varietiesdomestically, in accordance with EVFTA’s regulations, and the ground for dealing with disputes.
Since August 2020 when the EVFTA took effect, Loc Troi Group is the first enterprise chosen by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for export fragrant rice to Europe.
After one year of EVFTA implementation, Loc Troi Group is the leading enterprise in exporting rice to Europe in terms of quantity. The group is owning 5 rice varieties enjoying tax incentives under the EVFTA regulations.

Loc Troi Group has sent samples of 5 special copyrighted varieties including Loc Troi 28, Jasmine 85, OM5451, OM18, OM4900 and another variety named VD20to Europe to confirm DNA through its partner Eurofins.
Eurofins is ready to connect and contribute to get DNA confirmation for ricevarieties of other companies in Vietnam, such as ST24, ST25 from Ho Quang Tri enterprise, RVT of Vinaseed, Nang Thom Cho Dao and KDM of Cuu Long Delta Rice Research Institute, Nang Hoa 9 of author Le Hung Lan, etc.
The DNA confirmation for rice varieties in European market of and other companies, individuals besides Loc Troi Group Vietnam is very important to guarantee the legality for Vietnam’s rice varieties in the world market.
