The 2022 Dak Lak Agricultural Investment Promotion Conference on April 28 with the theme "Attracting investment and sustainable development of concentrated commodity agriculture in association with processing and consumption" has attracted the attendance of hundreds of domestic and foreign enterprises.

In the past time, the Prime Minister and the agriculture sector have focused on implementing agricultural restructuring, creating added value and sustainable development especially in potential and advantageous regions such as the Central Highlands. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has paid great attention and closely directed Dak Lak in attracting investors and businesses to participate in agriculture and agro-forestry-fishery processing of the province.

Mr. Pham Ngoc Nghi, Chairman of Dak Lak People's Committee, said that Dak Lak had a lot of potential and advantages for agriculture development. “The province has an agricultural production area of 650,000 ha (the largest in the country) and 735,000 ha of forestry land. The land is blessed with a mild climate, and the topography of agricultural production land is relatively flat. Not to mention there are over 300,000 ha of fertile basalt red soil which is considered the best agricultural production land.

This is a favorable condition for the development of intensive, concentrated and large-scale agro-forestry-fishery production in line with the development of the processing and product consumption industries.

Dak Lak can utilize these advantages as a premise to integrate multivalue and create a key provincial, regional, national agro-product value chain that holds high competitiveness in domestic and international markets. The main focus is to develop high-quality agriculture, prioritizing organic agriculture, agriculture associated with tourism, high-tech agriculture along the value chain, further boosting the connection between the processing industry and the market.

The aforementioned potentials, advantages and development orientations have been concretized by the province in the 2021 - 2030 Dak Lak Orientation Plan - Vision to 2050 and the 2021-2025 Socio-economic Development Plan. The province has also been building a strong political system and dynamic, creative staff at all levels with high determination to innovate and develop, making Dak Lak an attractive destination for domestic and international investors.

Mr. Pham Ngoc Nghi wished to see domestic and foreign investors coming to invest and do business in Dak Lak especially in the fields of agriculture, renewable energy, and tourism. Dak Lak is willing to cooperate for mutual development. The province’s Party committees and authorities at all levels are committed to coordinating, creating all the most favorable conditions, and accompanying investors and businesses while working in localities.

As shared by Mr. Phung Duc Tien, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, located at the center of the Central Highlands, in recent years Dak Lak has received the attention of the Central Government. With great efforts and determination, Dak Lak’s infrastructure and transportation system has been invested quickly and synchronously, connecting the Central Highlands with Southeast and Central Coast provinces.

Many investors have come to Dak Lak while having great interest, and many investment activities have occurred.

From 2010 to 2021, there are 73 projects with a total investment capital of VND 4,350 billion. This year 33 projects are in the process of completing investment procedures with a total investment of about VND 21,000 billion, 109 projects are calling for investment attraction in the fields of agriculture and agro-forestry-fishery processing with a total estimated capital of approximately VND 18,000 billion. There is even participation from large-scale investors such as TH Group, Xuan Thien Group, Chanh Thu, and De Heurs.

“It’s because there remains ample space for investment in the agriculture sector that Dak Lak is ready to "roll out the red carpet" to invite, accompany and create the most favorable conditions for corporations, businesses and investors to research and cooperate in long-term investment, "said the Deputy Minister.

Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien also said that the world economy is forecasted to continue a stable recovery momentum in 2022, with opportunities and challenges intertwined.

“We need to focus on implementing targets, tasks and solutions to improve growth quality, develop sustainable agriculture, and transform agriculture from ‘production mindset’ to ‘business mindset’, aiming towards multivalued agriculture.”
