Over the past years, to improve the economic value of black jelly, the Trang Dinh district's government, Lang Son province, has sought solutions to help farmers build a product consumption chain, form and develop concentrated production areas. Therefore, the black jelly has become a key plant to help people develop their economy, move out of poverty step by step.
Trang Dinh district is considered the most concentrated black jelly place in Lang Son province. From 2010, through realizing the effectiveness of this plant, the district has planned a black jelly growing area in eight western communes of the province such as Doan Ket, Cao Minh, Tan Tien, Kim Dong, De Tham...
The district’s total average area for black jelly is maintained from 1,500 to 2,000 hectares annually.
To link with the people, the People's Committee of Trang Dinh district has created favorable conditions for Duc Quy Import-Export Investment and Production Co., Ltd. to sell products for more than 300 households in most of the communes having black jelly in the district.
In particular, from October 2020, the People's Committee of Trang Dinh district has coordinated with the Lang Son Department of Industry and Trade to select Cao Minh and Tan Tien communes to pilot implement the association model between enterprises, cooperatives, and farmers in supplying agricultural materials and consuming agricultural products.
According to Mr. Vu Duc Thien, Chairman of the People's Committee, Trang Dinh district, the district has implemented specific policies to encourage investment in agriculture and rural areas, linking the agriculture production and consumption, and calling on businesses and cooperatives to invest in building factories, equipment, and raw material areas for agricultural and forestry production.
"Besides, the district needs to strengthen the connection between businesses, cooperatives, and farmers to build sustainable linkage chains from the agricultural materials supply to the product.

Trang Dinh district has increased the area and quality of the planting area and promoted the brand name for the black jelly to build linkage chains. Based on the quality of the growing area and the brand of this product, the district has connected businesses and cooperatives to associate product consumption with farmers in the coming time", Mr.Thien said.
In addition to solutions on association in product consumption, people are also disseminated methods and requirements on safety standards for black jelly, improve product quality, support training on growing techniques, and care for black jelly.
To improve the quality of black jelly, communes with the main growing area in Trang Dinh district have established groups to guide farmers in planting, caring, harvesting, and preserving black jelly with proper techniques; participate in reviewing the favorable land area for growing black jelly.
The guiding team also propagates and monitors people so that people do not use herbicides that affect the quality's black jelly.
As a result of drastic actions, Lang Son's black jelly has officially been exported to China since 2020. This is a positive signal that creates great economic development opportunities for Trang Dinh district.
“After that black jelly was officially exported to China, our family has increased the area for growing black jelly from 360 to 720 square meters.
We are delighted with growing black jelly and the value it brings. My family has a stable income from black jelly to ensure the life", said Mr. Chu Van Huan, Na Noong village, De Tham commune.
By building link chains, the value of black jelly in Trang Dinh district has increased in size and quality. In 2021, the black jelly area is about 3,000 hectares, which doubled the previous year.
Besides, from the beginning of 2020, the price of black jelly has increased from VND 20,000 to VND 40,000 per kilogram. As a result, the average annual turnover of black jelly is about VND 200 billion, doubled in 2017 backward.
