In the first four months of 2025, China exceeded 10 million units in both automobile production and sales for the first time, thanks largely to favorable policies and technological advancements, according to Yicai Global.

The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) reported that car production rose 13% year-on-year to 10.17 million units, while sales climbed 11% to 10.06 million units by April 30. This also raises expectations for increased demand for rubber-based tires.

Production and consumption of new energy vehicles (NEVs) surged, reaching 4.43 million and 4.3 million units respectively, up 48% and 46%. Of the total vehicles sold, around 8.12 million were consumed domestically (up 12% YoY), while 1.93 million were exported (up 6%).
