The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) reported that car production rose 13% year-on-year to 10.17 million units, while sales climbed 11% to 10.06 million units by April 30. This also raises expectations for increased demand for rubber-based tires.

Production and consumption of new energy vehicles (NEVs) surged, reaching 4.43 million and 4.3 million units respectively, up 48% and 46%. Of the total vehicles sold, around 8.12 million were consumed domestically (up 12% YoY), while 1.93 million were exported (up 6%).
