Rubber prices on July 20 globally

In the global market, rubber prices posted mixed movements.

At the time of writing, RSS3 for August 2026 delivery on the TOCOM (Tokyo Commodity Exchange) gained JPY 2 (equivalent to 0.47%) to JPY 424.5/kg.

Meanwhile, August 2026 rubber futures in Thailand reversed course, falling by THB 0.2 (or 0.22%) to THB 92.5/kg.

In China, August 2026 rubber futures edged up by CNY 55 (or 0.33%) to CNY 16,820/ton.

Global rubber prices edged higher in Japan and China, while reversing lower in Thailand.

Malaysia's natural rubber production reached 20,198 tons in May 2026, up 9.1% from the previous month but 16.7% lower than the same period in 2025, according to data from the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM). Smallholders remained the dominant producers, accounting for nearly 90% of total output, while plantations contributed just over 10%.

During the month, natural rubber inventories declined by more than 6% to 122,658 tons. Most of the stockpiles were held by rubber processors, followed by rubber consumers and plantations.

Exports also weakened, with export volume falling by more than 23% from the previous month to 28,741 tons. China remained the largest export market, followed by Germany, the United States, Türkiye, and India. Rubber gloves continued to be the leading export product, although their export value declined compared with April.

On the other hand, rubber prices continued to rise. Concentrated latex prices increased by more than 1%, while TSR20 rubber prices and the Singapore/Malaysia benchmark prices both climbed by more than 7% compared with the previous month.

According to the Malaysian Rubber Board, the market was supported by concerns over tightening global supply during the leaf-shedding season, dry weather in major producing countries, and rising crude oil prices driven by geopolitical tensions. Higher crude oil prices have also increased the production cost of synthetic rubber, thereby supporting demand for natural rubber.

Thus, global rubber prices on July 20, 2026 recorded slight fluctuations compared with the previous day.
