Pepper prices on May 19 globally

Globally, pepper prices on May 19, 2026 did not record any significant new fluctuations.

According to data from the International Pepper Community (IPC), Indonesian black pepper continued to be quoted at $ 7,050/ton, while Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper was priced at $ 6,250/ton. Meanwhile, Malaysian black pepper remained at $ 9,300/ton.

In Vietnam, export prices for black pepper were traded in the range of $ 6,100-6,200/ton for 500 g/l and 550 g/l grades.

At the same time, Indonesia’s Muntok white pepper prices remained stable at $ 9,244/ton. In Vietnam and Malaysia, white pepper export prices were quoted at $ 9,000/ton and $ 12,200/ton respectively, with no new fluctuations recorded.

Global pepper prices on May 19 generally remained stable. The black pepper market in India continued to maintain strong stability thanks to robust demand from the spice processing industry.

Traders said that many grinding factories in northern India have increased raw material purchases ahead of the monsoon season to secure supply, helping domestic pepper demand remain high.

Pepper is currently being offered at 700 rupees/kg for uncleaned pepper and 720 rupees/kg for cleaned pepper, with arrivals at the Kochi wholesale market estimated at around 15–20 tons.

On the other hand, export demand remains relatively sluggish due to shipping congestion related to the crisis in West Asia, exchange rate fluctuations, and U.S. import tariffs.

Pepper prices today, May 19, 2026: Domestic prices fall sharply

In India, trading activity at the Kochi wholesale market has become increasingly active ahead of the monsoon season. Northern processing factories are accelerating purchases to avoid the risk of high humidity affecting pepper quality. Currently, uncleaned pepper is offered at 700 rupees/kg, while cleaned pepper is priced at 720 rupees/kg.

Regarding local supply, climate change has caused production in Tamil Nadu to decline sharply this season, with output estimated at under 5,000 tons. However, overall supply remains supported as Kerala maintains stable production of 75,000-80,000 tons, while farmers in Karnataka have started releasing stored pepper inventories after the coffee market cooled down.

Globally, pepper export activity remains relatively quiet and subdued. International demand has weakened significantly, mainly due to shipping bottlenecks caused by tensions in the West Asia region.

Thus, global pepper prices on May 19, 2026 generally maintained stability compared to the previous day.
