Granted a protection license by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in 2021, Loc Troi 28 is Loc Troi Group's exclusive product and the pride of Loc Troi Agricultural Research Institute. Being the "hybrid" of Loc Troi 1 - fragrant rice won the third prize in the World Delicious Rice Contest 2015 held in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), undergoing more than 2,000 continuous seeding and selection tests during ten consecutive crop years from 2014 to 2017, Loc Troi 28 inherits the essence from Loc Troi 1– long, thin, clear, sweet rice; The particular scent blends the scent of jasmine and glutinous leaf and is "upgraded" to adapt to the soil and climate conditions in Vietnam and local farmer's farming habits.

With a short growth period, it can be grown all year round, with a stable yield of 5-7 tonnes per hectare; Loc Troi 28 is grown on thousands of hectares and expanded in the Mekong Delta provinces.

Loc Troi 28 is also one of the selected rice varieties grown in some specific material areas according to the sustainable rice cultivation process SRP and product quality management from the field to the factory meeting BRC standards of Loc Troi Group's food.

When officially starting the production of finished rice, on June 30, 2021, Loc Troi 28 was selected as one of the first 20 products to achieve the national 5-star OCOP among more than 4,500 OCOP products, expected to receive a certificate of merit from the Prime Minister.

Previously, Loc Troi 28 was confirmed with DNA genetic information by Eurofins Sac Ky Hai Dang Company for protection and as a basis for proposing rice varieties to enjoy tax incentives under the EVFTA agreement.

Loc Troi 28 is one of the few current rice varieties that ensures traceability from seed genes, cultivation process to post-harvest quality, ensuring high safety for users, helping specialty fragrant rice adds opportunities to expand domestic market and export to high-end markets, including orders for 2022, with Loc Troi Group's premium rice brand to supermarket chains in Europe.
