Currently, Kon Tum province has more than 2.900 hectares of forest planted with Ngoc Linh ginseng. Among this area, local people are growing ginseng on over 333 hectares, while businesses have planted ginseng on approximately 2.500 hectares. In addition, there are around 40 hectares of ginseng cultivation in forest areas managed by forest owners that have yet to be officially reported. Furthermore, organizations and individuals have planted about 14 hectares of ginseng outside the designated geographical indication area.

In 2025, Kon Tum province sets a target to plant over 1.500 hectares of Ngoc Linh ginseng, with locals in the two districts of Dak Glei and Tu Mo Rong expected to plant around 60 hectares, and businesses accounting for the remaining 1.500 hectares. According to a report from the Vietnam Agriculture and Nature Newspaper, to achieve this goal, the districts of Dak Glei and Tu Mo Rong, along with businesses, have been actively conducting surveys, preparing the land, gathering materials, and stockpiling mulch in preparation for the upcoming Ngoc Linh ginseng planting season. Furthermore, businesses are planning to propagate more than 15.2 million seedlings, which will be sufficient to meet the planting area target for the 2025 season.

In Te Xang commune (Tu Mo Rong district), the Xo Dang ethnic people have proactively prepared all the necessary conditions, including land, seedlings, and are striving to exceed the targets set by the district.
Mr. A Hem (from Dak Vien village, Te Xang commune) shared that his family has been growing several hundred Ngoc Linh ginseng plants for many years. "Last year, we harvested enough Ngoc Linh ginseng seeds to expand the area by nearly 1 sao this year. We hope that in a few years, when the ginseng reaches maturity, it will help increase our income and improve our family’s living standards", he said.
Mr. Pham Van Chat, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dak To Forestry One Member Limited Liability Company, shared that the company is actively implementing all necessary preparations for planting. However, whether the seedling propagation will be successful depends on weather conditions and the efforts in protecting and caring for the plants.
"We are committed to planting 38 hectares of Ngoc Linh ginseng, in line with the target assigned by Kon Tum province for our company in 2025", Mr. Pham Van Chat said.

Mr. Duong Thai Khoa, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tu Mo Rong district, shared that this year, the local target for planting new Ngoc Linh ginseng is over 1.000 hectares. Of this, local people are expected to plant about 45 hectares, while businesses will plant the remaining area.
For the businesses, the planting plan will be supervised and closely monitored by the Department of Agriculture and Environment. Since the beginning of the year, Tu Mo Rong district has reviewed the list of households involved in new Ngoc Linh ginseng planting and ensured that all necessary preparations are made regarding land and seedlings. In terms of land, local people have largely prepared 45 hectares, meeting the target. As for seedlings, the community has successfully propagated over 500.000 seedlings, which is enough to plant approximately 50 hectares.
Mr. Le Viet Nam, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Dak Glei district, stated that although the district has been assigned a target of planting only 15 hectares of Ngoc Linh ginseng in 2025, it has decided to allocate an additional 10 hectares to local communes, bringing the total planting area to 25 hectares. To achieve this ambitious goal, the district needs around 250.000 seedlings. However, local people have so far only prepared about 110.000 seedlings, which means the district is in urgent need of support to meet the target.
Ngoc Linh ginseng helps local people shift from a mindset of deforestation to one of planting and protecting the buffer zones of the ginseng, while also promoting tourism development. At the same time, it encourages a transition from a mentality of dependence and reliance to a proactive approach in investing for economic development.
