According to the Vietnam Trade Office in Japan, the Vietnam Festival in Tokyo has been held annually by the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan since 2008. It is an event to promote the image of Vietnam in Japan and contribute to cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the two peoples.

The Vietnam Festival in Tokyo in 2022 is held from June 4-5, 2022, coinciding with the time of the lychee harvest season in Vietnam.

The promotion event of fresh lychees at the Festival is the first time that the Vietnam Trade Office in Japan collaborated with the People's Committee of Bac Giang province and two reputable fruit and vegetable exporters, namely Global Import-Export Joint Stock Company, and Ameii Vietnam Joint Stock Company, to directly introduce fresh lychee to festival visitors.

The Vietnamese community and Japanese people who love Vietnam are able to taste and feel the delicious taste of lychees. They can also purchase them as gifts for relatives and friends.

The Trade Office believes that this event will help Vietnamese fresh lychees become more popular, accepted, and loved in the Japanese market.

Vietnam's fresh lychee has been officially accepted for import by the Japanese Government since December 15, 2019.

In the two seasons of 2020 and 2021, Vietnam's fresh lychee entered the Japanese market very successfully with the first year's import volume reaching about 40 tons and increasing in the following year, reaching about 300-400 tons.

Vietnamese lychee has won the hearts of many consumers in Japan, especially the Vietnamese communities living, studying, and working in Japan.
