At Ha Dong Commune, a launch ceremony was held with the participation of local residents and businesses. According to Mr. Hoang Van Dai, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, waste segregation at source is a key priority. On this occasion, sponsors donated 600 waste-sorting bins to support the commune’s pilot waste management model.
In Tu Ky Commune, local authorities issued guidance encouraging socio-political organizations and schools to promote digital transformation in environmental protection. The commune is encouraging the application of artificial intelligence and big data in environmental monitoring and disaster warning systems, in line with Hai Phong’s vision for modern coastal governance.
Meanwhile, Tien Lang Commune has mobilized residents to clean roads, neighborhoods and public spaces, clear drainage channels, plant trees and strengthen awareness campaigns on waste separation at source. Activities also focus on cleaning major roads and markets, removing overgrown vegetation, unclogging drainage systems and improving waste collection and treatment.
At Cat Ba National Park, preparations are underway for a large-scale marine clean-up campaign. More than 120 students from the Faculty of Biology at Hanoi National University of Education, together with border guards and police officers, are expected to collect plastic waste at remote beaches such as Van Boi, Nam Cat and Thap Nghieng. The activity will contribute to the celebration of World Oceans Day on June 8 under the theme of sustainable marine protected areas.

Earlier, in response to directives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment regarding activities for World Environment Day, the Month of Action for the Environment, World Oceans Day and Viet Nam Sea and Islands Week 2026, the Hai Phong Department of Agriculture and Environment developed a citywide action plan.
The centerpiece of the plan is a rally marking World Environment Day and the Month of Action for the Environment, alongside a seminar titled “Reducing Single-Use Plastics - Promoting Green Lifestyles and Green Tourism”, to be held in Do Son Ward.
As a media partner for the event series, hte Viet Nam Agriculture and Nature News (VAN News) plays a key role in connecting environmental policies with businesses and local communities. Beyond news coverage, the newspaper is also coordinating forums and discussions on circular economy development and extended producer responsibility (EPR) implementation across the city.
Communication campaigns will be conducted through both traditional outdoor channels and social media platforms such as TikTok and Facebook using community hashtags. The goal is to foster a strong green-living movement that begins with awareness, leads to behavioral change and ultimately inspires concrete environmental action.
Hai Phong’s environmental action plan is designed not only as a short-term campaign but also as part of the long-term implementation of the Government’s environmental agenda. The enforcement of the 2020 Law on Environmental Protection and related regulations will be integrated into training workshops for officials at commune, ward and special administrative unit levels.
The city also aims to develop a sustainable blue economy as a major driver of growth while balancing economic development with ecosystem conservation. Community initiatives such as “Volunteer Saturday” and “Green Sunday” are expected to become regular activities to help maintain clean, green and attractive living environments.
Following the rally, the seminar on reducing single-use plastics and promoting green tourism will focus on solutions to phase out disposable plastic products in tourism destinations and replace them with environmentally friendly alternatives. The initiative is part of Hai Phong’s broader effort to develop eco-friendly tourism and service businesses.
