After the Lunar New Year, labor activity at cinnamon seedling nurseries in Tran Yen Commune has become more bustling than ever. Unlike previous years when trading was sluggish, this year the cinnamon seedling market has shown clear improvement in both prices and consumption volume. Prices have nearly doubled compared to last year, creating strong motivation for local people. Even small nurseries are generating important income, contributing to improved livelihoods.

In Dong Sam Hamlet, Tran Yen Commun, one of the key areas for cinnamon seedling nurseries, people start early in the morning, uprooting, sorting, and packing seedlings for traders. With prices ranging from VND 1,000 to VND 1,200 per plant, cinnamon seedlings have truly become “green gold,” providing a stable source of income.
The family of Ms. Nong Thi Lanh, who has many years of experience in seedling cultivation in Dong Sam Hamlet, has about 500,000 seedlings ready for sale this season, expected to generate VND 200–300 million. According to Ms. Lanh, compared to many other crops, cinnamon seedlings provide more stable income, lower risks, and are well-suited to local farming conditions. After selling this batch, her family plans to invest in a new crop, expecting to supply tens of thousands more seedlings to the market by mid-year.

Currently, Tran Yen Commune has about 350 households engaged in seedling nurseries, with each nursery providing regular employment for around 5 workers. Hamlets such as Dong Sam, Dong Gianh, and Dong Trang are key areas where this activity is concentrated. By proactively selecting high-quality seeds and applying scientific and technical advancements in production, cinnamon seedlings here grow well and meet market demands.
Beyond economic benefits, the development of cinnamon seedling nurseries also plays an important role in restructuring crop systems, improving land-use efficiency, and creating sustainable livelihoods. Compared to traditional crops like rice, cinnamon seedlings generate significantly higher economic returns. Many households have boldly expanded their production scale, gradually increasing their income and improving their living standards.

To support farmers in developing this activity, local organizations, especially the Farmers’ Association, have actively coordinated with professional agencies to provide technical training. The training focuses on key stages, including seed selection, seedling care, pest control, and root development techniques. As a result, farmers are improving their skills, reducing production risks, and enhancing product quality.
According to Ms. Ngo Thi Thuy Van, an official of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Tran Yen Commune, cinnamon seedlings not only generate significant income but also create long-term economic development opportunities for many households. From 2025 to early 2026, many families have earned hundreds of millions of VND, with some reaching billions from seedling cultivation. This is a positive signal confirming the strong development potential of this model in the coming time.
