Vinachem utilizes modern technology in new investment projects

(VAN) Vinachem reviews its 2021–2025 science, technology, and digital transformation progress, and share its vision for the 2026 - 2030 period.

On November 6, the Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem) held “The conference on reviewing science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation activities for the 2021 - 2025 period, and orientations for the 2026 - 2030 period.”

The event served as a key milestone for Vinachem to reflect on five years of development, recognize significant achievements, and determine urgent directions for modernization. This occurred in the context of Vietnam promoting industrialization alongside green and digital transformation, as outlined in Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo.

2021 - 2025: Over VND 250 billion invested, 3,700 initiatives recorded

At the conference, Phung Quang Hiep, Member of the Government Party Committee, Party Secretary, and Chairman of the Members' Council of Vinachem, stated, “As one of the key state-owned economic groups and the backbone of Vietnam’s chemical industry, Vinachem identifies science-technology, innovation, and digital transformation as essential engines for sustainable development.”

With 56 years of development, Vinachem currently has 34 member units and nearly 20,000 employees operating across six core sectors. The Group plays a pivotal role in ensuring food security, energy security, and the supply of essential materials for the national economy.

During 2021 and 2025, Vinachem made notable advancements in production scale, product structure, and technological level. Many equipment upgrades and technology improvement projects were implemented, enhancing product quality, reducing resource and energy use, and better meeting domestic demand for the fields of basic chemicals, fertilizers, batteries, and tires for automobiles and motorcycles.

The Group has steadily adopted advanced technological solutions, notably automation and digital systems in production line management. It has also focused on high-value-added products such as chemicals for electronics, semiconductors, and renewable energy. Environmental protection, chemical safety, and waste treatment have also seen positive improvements toward sustainability and greenhouse gas reduction.

The report from this conference shows that Vinachem invested over VND 250 billion in science-technology, innovation, and digital transformation during the 2021 - 2025 period. With the Vietnam Institute of Industrial Chemistry as its core research unit, Vinachem undertook 76 projects and topics, alongside more than 3,700 technical innovations and improvements.

These activities yielded dual benefits, saving energy and costs while increasing productivity. They also enabled Vinachem to master production processes and develop new products such as environmentally friendly fertilizers, high-purity chemicals, and radial tires. Many achievements have been patented, boosting competitiveness, operational efficiency, and brand reputation.

However, the conference also highlighted existing challenges. Certain production technologies remain outdated, research capacity is still fragmented, and pressures from safety, environmental standards, and global energy transition require stronger technological renovation and product restructuring.

2026 - 2030: Maintaining position as a leading regional group

Entering a new phase, Vinachem aims to establish science-technology, innovation, and digital transformation as strategic pillars in restructuring and green growth. Accordingly, all new investment projects must be based on modern and high-efficiency technologies that benefit the  environment. Key development focus will be on high-purity, specialized chemical products serving advanced industries.

The Group will accelerate comprehensive digital transformation, develop smart factories and digital enterprises, build sector-wide data infrastructure, and gradually adopt artificial intelligence in management, production, and commerce. It also plans to develop the Vietnam Institute of Industrial Chemistry into a core research and innovation hub, strengthening connections with domestic and international research institutions and universities.

Nguyen Huu Tu, General Director of Vinachem, emphasized that science-technology, innovation, and digital transformation will remain the key growth drivers in the upcoming phase. The Group will prioritize automation, modernization, and diversification of high–value products, aiming to deepen participation in global value chains. This will help Vinachem reinforce its position as a leading chemical group in Southeast Asia and contribute significantly to the country’s goal of sustaining double-digit economic growth in the coming years.
