On November 1 in Lai Chau, Than Uyen Tea Joint Stock Company and Que Lam Phuong Bac Company Limited (part of Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company) signed a cooperation agreement on organic agricultural production and circular economy.

Mr. Vu Ngoc Sang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Than Uyen Tea Joint Stock Company (Tan Uyen district, Lai Chau province), shared that tea trees began growing on Tan Uyen land more than 60 years ago. Like many other tea regions across the country, the problem of tea growers in Tan Uyen is fragmented production, competition between buying and selling, and overuse of fertilizers and chemical pesticides. Hence, the economic value is not high, and the standard of living is not high. Tea growers are still struggling...

Changing farming thinking early, combined with suitable land and climate conditions, up to now, Than Uyen Tea Joint Stock Company is managing a raw material area of more than 400 hectares and linking the production and consumption of more than 700 hectares of tea from more than 600 households in the region, each year producing more than 2,000 tons of dry tea of all kinds, becoming the leading unit in the Vietnamese tea industry. The purebred Shan Tuyet tea variety in this land not only brings income and livelihood to people but is also exported to China, Middle Eastern countries, Taiwan, Japan, England, America...

Many years ago, The company cooperated with Que Lam Phuong Bac Company Limited to supply fertilizers, especially organic fertilizers, Consulting and guiding production processes, procedures, and techniques for fertilizing tea plants... according to a separate ordering mechanism for Tan Uyen tea area.

Every year, Que Lam Group sends experts to raw tea areas to take soil samples to study the composition and nutritional content to produce suitable fertilizers. Thanks to that, the land was improved, the raw tea area was revived, and the production thinking of farmers gradually changed. The entire tea area of Than Uyen Tea Joint Stock Company has now met VietGAP standards, and many areas are being built according to organic standards.

In addition to focusing on improving the output and quality of tea, Than Uyen Tea Joint Stock Company also boldly converted old and perennial tea areas to grow fruit trees. To date, there have been 200 hectares of macadamia trees intercropped with tea, 30 hectares of jackfruit, 15 hectares of sapodilla, 30 hectares of pineapple, 10 hectares of avocado..., all of which are suitable for Tan Uyen soil and grow well.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tan Uyen Tea Joint Stock Company assessed that Tan Uyen's potential and advantages for agricultural development are still huge. These fruit tree models will be transferred by the Company with techniques and varieties to people to develop organically and sustainably, increasing income for people in tea areas.
