On May 30–31, a delegation from the Tuyen Quang Department of Agriculture and Environment held working sessions with ThaiBinh Seed Group Joint Stock Company (ThaiBinh Seed) and Dong Giao Foodstuff Joint Stock Company (DOVECO).
The visits to Hung Yen Province to work with ThaiBinh Seed and to Ninh Binh Province to meet with DOVECO were aimed not only at identifying new crop varieties and effective production models, but also at creating opportunities to attract leading enterprises to invest in Tuyen Quang’s agricultural sector.
As agriculture faces growing demands to transition to a modern, green, and sustainable model, strengthening connections with major enterprises is viewed as a key solution to improving the competitiveness of local agricultural products. It also provides Tuyen Quang with an opportunity to access advanced management models and modern production technologies.
In its effort to raise agricultural production value, Tuyen Quang is pursuing the development of large-scale raw material zones, wider application of science and technology, and sustainable linkages connecting production, processing and consumption.

With ThaiBinh Seed, one of Vietnam’s leading crop breeding companies, the delegation showed particular interest in new high-yield, high-quality varieties that are resilient to climate change and suitable for local soil and climatic conditions.
ThaiBinh Seed currently owns more than 30 proprietary crop varieties and operates modern research and production facilities, including a 140-hectare crop research institute and internationally certified processing plants. Several of its rice varieties, such as BC15 and Thai Xuyen 111, are already widely cultivated in Tuyen Quang, accounting for more than 15% of the province’s crop structure.
Under its development strategy through 2030, with a vision to 2040, ThaiBinh Seed will continue investing in high-tech agriculture and breeding new crop varieties with superior yield and quality. These are also areas where Tuyen Quang hopes to deepen cooperation in the coming years.

Beyond crop varieties, the working session with DOVECO opened the prospect of establishing large-scale raw-material zones linked to deep-processing industries.
As one of Vietnam’s largest fruit and vegetable processors, DOVECO currently operates more than 5,500 hectares of production land and cooperates with farmers across over 13,000 hectares. Its products are exported to demanding markets including the US, UK, France, Germany, South Korea and China.
Following field surveys, DOVECO assessed that Tuyen Quang has strong potential to develop raw material zones for pineapple, passion fruit, sweet corn, and vegetable soybean. Pineapple, in particular, is considered one of the most promising crops, with the province potentially able to develop up to 15,000 hectares of production area. Pilot cultivation in Son Duong District has already shown encouraging growth results.

Experts believe that establishing plantations linked to processing facilities would significantly increase agricultural value-added. Farmers would also benefit from standardized production processes, more stable markets and reduced exposure to market fluctuations.
Mr. Pham Manh Duyet, Director of the Tuyen Quang Department of Agriculture and Environment, said the province hopes ThaiBinh Seed will help identify high-yield, high-quality and economically efficient varieties to enhance the value of rice and corn production. The province also seeks cooperation in restoring local specialty rice varieties, developing peanut varieties and building concentrated commodity production zones.

Regarding DOVECO, the province expects the company to begin developing raw material areas for pineapple, passion fruit, sweet corn, and vegetable soybeans soon. Tuyen Quang currently has a considerable land reserve that can be converted from lower-value crops to higher-value crops. The province is also prepared to support and facilitate investment in agricultural processing facilities.
When major enterprises come to Tuyen Quang, the province’s ambition extends beyond investment projects and growth figures. Its long-term vision is to create modern agricultural value chains, large-scale production zones, farmland that generates hundreds of millions of VND per hectare, and a new generation of farmers who achieve prosperity on their own land.
