Deputy Minister Hoang Trung affirmed that the commemorative medal recognizes Ambassador Nicolai Prytz’s significant contributions to strengthening bilateral cooperation in agriculture, environment, and sustainable development.
Viet Nam and Denmark share a longstanding traditional friendship built on mutual trust, respect, and a shared sense of responsibility toward global challenges. In the context of climate change, resource depletion, and the growing demand for green transition, cooperation between the two countries has become increasingly strategic.
In 2023, the two countries adopted the Joint Declaration on the Viet Nam - Denmark Green Strategic Partnership, establishing an important framework to advance emissions reduction, renewable energy development, and realization of Net Zero commitment.

“Denmark has extensive experience in green and circular agriculture, advanced technologies, food safety, and marine environmental protection. These are areas that Viet Nam is prioritizing in its restructuring and sustainable development process,” the Deputy Minister said.
The ministry’s leadership also highly appreciated Denmark’s support in human resource training and capacity building for Vietnamese officials and experts in food safety and biosafety risk assessment, as well as efforts to strengthen business connectivity in technology transfer and agricultural value chain development. In the field of natural resources, marine environment, and islands, cooperation between the two countries’ specialized agencies in geology and marine environmental protection has been effectively implemented in recent times, bringing practical significance for Viet Nam.
According to Ambassador Nicolai Prytz, two major milestones during his tenure were the State visit of the Danish Royal Family to Viet Nam in 2022 and the establishment of the Green Strategic Partnership in 2023.
Ambassador highly valued the cooperation between the two countries in agriculture and food, noting that it serves as an important foundation for supporting Viet Nam in developing a greener, more resource-efficient, and more environmentally friendly agricultural sector.
At the same time, through programs organized by the Danida Fellowship Centre under Denmark’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, nearly 100 officials and researchers have participated in training courses and study visits in the Nordic country.

Ambassador Nicolai Prytz also emphasized the growing importance of cooperation in food safety, animal feed, antimicrobial resistance prevention, and the One Health approach.
Deputy Minister Hoang Trung reaffirmed that during his tenure in Viet Nam, Ambassador Nicolai Prytz not only fulfilled his diplomatic duties but also served as “a close friend, trusted partner,” and an effective bridge connecting ministries, businesses, localities, and people of the two countries.
“Although my term in Viet Nam is coming to an end, my connection with this country will always remain deep. Viet Nam will always hold a special place in my heart,” Ambassador Nicolai Prytz shared.
On behalf of the ministry’s leadership, Deputy Minister Hoang Trung presented the “For the Cause of Agriculture and Environment” commemorative medal to Danish Ambassador to Viet Nam Nicolai Prytz under Decision No. 1782/QD-BNNMT signed by Minister Trinh Viet Hung dated May 18, 2026, in recognition of his contributions to the development of Viet Nam’s agriculture and environment sectors.

The two sides identified key areas for future cooperation, including reducing food loss and waste, improving resource-use efficiency across food and animal feed value chains, promoting the transition toward sustainable agri-food systems, and strengthening the resilience of supply chains.
The Danish Ambassador noted that in the future, Viet Nam and Denmark will be challenged by producing more food with fewer resources, while ensuring food safety and reducing environmental impacts. However, this also presents a great opportunity to promote cooperation in green agriculture and sustainable food systems.
