Expectations about the spread of Rice Festival

At the meeting with businesses participating in the International Festival of Vietnam Rice Industry - Hau Giang 2023, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan said that this is the first time the locality has organized an international event about rice. Therefore, relevant parties must research and implement plans worthy of their activities.

“We need to change the direction of doing business in a new way. The Minister said it could be selling products that have never existed or taking advantage of waste and by-products in the rice industry," the Minister said.

The leader of the agricultural sector also "opened the borders" for the event's activities. According to him, rice is a key crop, a brand, and an image that international friends will think of in Vietnam whenever it is mentioned. Therefore, production means agricultural materials... in the commodity ecosystem, can exploit related stories and images to have a comprehensive view and elevate rice grains.

The Government, and directly Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, are very interested in the event. Through the directions of the Head of the Government, Minister Le Minh Hoan believes that the Prime Minister wants to have a spillover effect from the rice festival through many memorandum signing ceremonies, demonstrating the determination and companionship of all parties.

Currently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is implementing and organizing many projects related to the rice industry, including the project of 1 million hectares of high-quality rice, emission reduction and agricultural mechanization projects. This is the launching pad for Vietnamese rice to fly high and far in the international market.

"Hopefully, the business sector will have specific commitments and actions, demonstrating their determination to reduce emissions and green growth for the industry," the Minister worried.

Quote from a Mekong Delta farmer: "As long as rice has a good price, farmers are willing to go to the fields to sleep to save rice. If rice prices are low, farmers will abandon their fields, which is food insecurity", Minister Le Minh Hoan emphasized that the upcoming Rice Festival in Hau Giang province is an opportunity to "sell images", not to find partners and customers to "sell rice grains".

Therefore, together, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development called on the business community to join hands to introduce what is quintessential, unique, and most characteristic of Vietnam's rice industry, thereby helping farmers increase their family economy and stable life.
