Currently, Brazil is the second-largest producer and exporter of black pepper, accounting for 17–18% of global supply. However, Brazil’s pepper exports for the 2024 season sharply declined, marking a three-year consecutive drop due to low production affected by El Niño.

For the year 2024, Brazil’s pepper exports totaled 61,665 tons, a sharp decrease of 23.6% (19,037 tons) compared to 2023.

Despite this, export revenue for the past year still increased by 13.4% to $ 286 million, mainly due to a 48.4% rise in the average export price, which reached $ 4,639/ton.

The UAE emerged as Brazil’s largest pepper export market, with a volume of 8,179 tons, up 7.1% from 2023 and accounting for 13.3% of Brazil’s total pepper exports.
