Update on domestic and global pepper prices as of January 7, 2025
Globally, pepper prices on January 7 are rising in Indonesia and Malaysia.
Specifically, the price of black pepper from Lampung, Indonesia, increased by 0.15% to $ 6,842/ton. Meanwhile, white pepper from Muntok also rose by 0.15%, reaching $ 8,953/ton.
In Malaysia, Kuching black pepper ASTA climbed to $ 8,600/ton, up 1.2%, while white pepper ASTA from the same country reached $ 10,900/ton, marking a 1.87% increase.
In Brazil, black pepper ASTA 570 is being traded at $ 6,325/ton.
For Vietnam, black pepper for export, grade 500 g/l, is being traded at USD 6,400/ton, while grade 550 g/l stands at $ 6,700/ton. Exported white pepper is priced at $ 9,600/ton.
The global pepper price today increased slightly in Indonesia and rose more than 1.2% in Malaysia. Meanwhile, other markets remained unchanged.
Thus, the global pepper price on January 7, 2025, has a rising trend compared to yesterday.
In the domestic market, pepper prices on January 7 remained stable compared to yesterday.
Specifically, in Dak Lak, the buying price today remains at VND 149,000/kg;
The price of pepper in Dak Nong stays at VND 150,000/kg;
In Gia Lai, the price of pepper today increased to VND 148,500/kg, up by VND 500;
Traders in Dong Nai are buying pepper at VND 148,000/kg;
The price of pepper in Ba Ria - Vung Tau remains at VND 149,000/kg.
Domestic pepper prices today mostly remained stable, with only Gia Lai seeing an increase of VND 500. Currently, the highest domestic pepper price is VND 150,000/kg.
According to the Vietnam Pepper Association (VPSA), in December, Vietnam imported 3,750 tons of various types of pepper, including 2,777 tons of black pepper and 973 tons of white pepper. The total import value reached $ 20.9 million, a 14.4% decrease compared to the previous month.
Vietnam mainly imported pepper from Indonesia, which accounted for 81.9% at 3,071 tons, followed by Brazil with 9.5% at 355 tons, and Cambodia with 5.7% at 213 tons.
The main importers in December included Olam Vietnam, Phuc Thinh, Harris Spice, KSS, and Haprosimex JSC.
Thus, the domestic pepper price on January 7, 2025, is trading around VND 148,000 - VND 150,000/kg.
