Update on the latest pepper market price on 05/13/2023
Pepper prices today May 13 in the world market turned down in Indonesia but remained stable in other countries.
Accordingly, the price of Lampung black pepper in Indonesia decreased by 0.2%; at $3,565/ton. And the price of this country's Muntok white pepper decreased by 0.22%; at $6,043/ton.
Malaysia's Kuching ASTA black pepper price remained stable at $4,900/ton; while the country's ASTA white pepper is still priced at $7,300/ton.
For the Brazilian market, the price of black pepper ASTA 570 is $2,950/ton.
In Vietnam, the export price of 500 and 550 g/l black pepper is $3,500 and $3,600/ton, respectively. The export price of white pepper is $5,000/ton.
World pepper prices today are falling slightly in Indonesia and there is no new change in other export markets.
According to the April 2023 report of Nedspice Group, in the pepper market in Vietnam and other countries, there are no new planting areas in recent years.
The reason comes from the fact that farmers are shifting to other crops for better income. This makes global pepper production continue to fall below demand, and inventories in exporting countries in the region also decrease.
In Indonesia, farmers in this country are turning to palm, rubber, and coffee. And this leads to a decrease in their pepper production and it is estimated that the crop in Bangka and Lampung may decrease by 10-15%/year.

The domestic price of pepper today had a second downward session and this pushed the transaction level down to the threshold of VND 75,000/kg.
According to the latest data, our country imported about 5,378 tons of pepper from Brazil in the first 4 months of the year. Meanwhile, Senegal is only about 3,685 tons.
