Operating processing line to maximize tilapia export value

Confident in supplying around 35.000 tons of tilapia to the market in 2027

At the end of June 2026, BaiYang Viet Nam officially operated its export tilapia processing line at its factory located in the Tien Hai Industrial Zone, Dong Chau commune, Hung Yen Province.

This represents a major milestone, marking the project's transition into its practical operational phase after more than a year of construction investment. Concurrently, it completes the processing link within the closed tilapia export alliance chain that Viet Nam Japan Nutrition Joint Stock Company (Viet Nhat Group) and BaiYang Viet Nam have persistently established.

From early morning, the first trucks carrying raw tilapia from linked farming zones were transported to the factory. From the reception area, the fish were transferred into holding tank systems and automated conveyors, sequentially passing through the stages of sorting, cleaning, filleting, quality control, and packaging.

Throughout the trial operation period, BaiYang Viet Nam's technical team collaborated with Chinese experts to continuously inspect and calibrate each item to ensure the entire line operates stably before entering commercial production.

Mr. Tran Trung Kien, Chairman of the Board of Directors cum General Director of Viet Nhat Group, stated: “After more than a year of urgently deploying the project with a total investment exceeding 1.500 billion VND, today we officially put the line into production with a capacity of 200 tons of fish per day in Phase 1. When fully operational, the capacity will reach 300 tons per day. We are confident that in 2027, we will supply around 35.000 tons of tilapia to the market.”

Bringing Vietnamese tilapia to the world

The core difference of this project lies not in the scale of the factory but in the fact that the entire value chain has been prepared in advance. Over the past period, Viet Nhat Group and BaiYang Viet Nam have continuously deployed farming zone linkage programs, organized technical workshops, transferred farming workflows, and developed a network of household farmers that satisfy export standards.

Dr. Doan Quoc Khanh, Aquaculture Technical Director of Viet Nhat Group, noted: “The entire raw material zone serving the factory has been prepared by us since December 2025 and currently satisfies the production plan up to November 2026. In parallel, we are continuing to expand the raw material zones, searching for partners and large-scale farms to meet the factory's maximum capacity of 300 tons of fish per day.”

“Proactively securing raw material zones right from the beginning will help the enterprise guarantee a stable supply, clear traceability, and satisfy the strict standards of export markets,” Mr. Khanh emphasized.

Mr. Chuong Thanh Thu, representative of Guo Xin Group (China), highly appreciated the project deployment process and noted that the successful trial operation is an important foundation for the factory to quickly step into official production, supplying stable, high-quality products to international clients.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ngo Minh Ket, Sales Director of BaiYang Viet Nam Food Co., Ltd., emphasized that this is the result of over a year of nonstop efforts between Viet Nhat Group and BaiYang. He expects the project to contribute to turning tilapia into one of the next flagship commodities of Vietnamese aquaculture, creating additional development momentum for both farmers and enterprises.

According to data from the Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), in the first 5 months of 2026, tilapia export turnover reached 62 million USD, an increase of over 100% compared to the same period in 2025, showing a robust recovery of this commodity in the international market.

In a context where tilapia is identified as an aquaculture species with ample room for development, constructing a closed alliance chain from raw material zones to processing and exporting is expected to generate fresh momentum for the sector. Beyond raising added value, guaranteeing quality, and ensuring traceability, this model contributes to securing stable outputs for farmers, increasing product competitive edge, and step-by-step bringing Vietnamese tilapia further on the world aquaculture export map.

Mr. Tran Trung Kien, Chairman of the Board of Directors cum General Director of Viet Nhat Group, stated: “The project does not merely invest in a modern processing factory but aims to construct a complete value chain for Vietnam's tilapia industry, spanning from breeding stocks, feed, and farming zones to processing and exporting, creating a baseline to elevate the added value and competitive capacity of the product in the international market.”
