According to the agreement, both parties will collaborate on research, technology transfer, testing, and development of biological products applied in agriculture. The cooperation focuses particularly on the following areas: breeding, conservation, and development of livestock genetic resources; biotechnology applications in animal husbandry, veterinary medicine, and the production of biological preparations; research and development of veterinary drugs, reverse genetics, viral vectors, specific antibodies, and rapid disease diagnostics; and application of microbial biotechnology in livestock waste treatment and agricultural by-product recycling toward circular, green, and sustainable agriculture.
Speaking at the ceremony, David John Whitehead, Chairman of Mavin Group, stated, “With the desire to create a stronger connection between research and practice, between science and business, I firmly believe that today’s signing marks the beginning of a new, effective, and long-term partnership between Mavin and the Institute of Biology, together achieving breakthrough accomplishments in biotechnology, biological pharmaceuticals, and high-quality human resource development for modern agriculture.”
The cooperation between a specialized research institute and a large-scale agri-food corporation marks a significant advancement for Vietnam’s agricultural sector and the community as a whole. This partnership not only bridges knowledge with practice but also opens opportunities to realize the vision of building a sustainable agricultural ecosystem, reducing antibiotic use in livestock farming, improving animal health, and contributing to food safety for consumers. For the first time, science and business are being tightly connected through a comprehensive and long-term collaboration, united by a shared mission to serve the community.

Dr. Chu Hoang Ha, Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and Director of the IB, said, “This signing ceremony is the result of active exchanges and collaboration between the Institute of Biology and Mavin Group, demonstrating a shared strategic vision of linking scientific research with practical production, applying advanced technologies, and promoting sustainable development.”
The partnership between Mavin Group and IB is a significant milestone. It reflects a shared aspiration to bring science into daily life, connecting research with production and community service. This collaboration opens up opportunities for Vietnam to build a green, sustainable, and highly competitive agricultural sector in regional and global markets.
The Institute of Biology, under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, was established on March 15, 2025, by merging three leading research institutes: the Institute of Biotechnology, the Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources, and the Institute of Genome Research. Its mission is to conduct fundamental scientific research, develop technology, and train high-level human resources in biology, biotechnology, biomedical sciences, and agriculture, while promoting green transformation.
The Institute of Biology currently has nearly 400 scientists, including 8 professors, 31 associate professors, 125 Ph. D.s, and over 100 master’s degree holders. It comprises 29 affiliated units with specialized laboratories, modern research centers, and national key laboratories, meeting the demands of interdisciplinary research and advanced training.
Mavin Group is a pioneer in the agri-food sector, with over 20 years of development in Vietnam. Operating under the closed “Feed - Farm - Food” model, Mavin owns hundreds of livestock farms nationwide, several animal feed and veterinary medicine factories, and a system of clean food processing facilities. With a strong foundation and a vision for sustainable development, Mavin consistently focuses on technological innovation and scientific cooperation to enhance product quality, ensure biosecurity, and protect the environment.
