On September 16, the International Conference on Fisheries and Aquaculture (ICFA) 2025 opened in Nha Trang ward, Khanh Hoa province. Nearly 100 delegates, including scientists and experts from home and abroad, participated.

The conference was co-organized by Nha Trang University and the International Institute of Knowledge Management (Sri Lanka). This forum aims to seek breakthrough solutions and foster international cooperation to cope with the global challenges facing the fisheries sector.
Speaking at the conference, Prof. Dr. Pham Quoc Hung, Vice Rector of Nha Trang University, stressed that the global fisheries sector is under tremendous pressure, including climate change, resource depletion, food security concerns, and the growing demand for sustainable development. "These issues are no longer confined to a single nation but have become a shared concern, requiring strong collaboration that transcends borders," he said.
With over 65 years of history, Nha Trang University is one of Vietnam's leading training and research institutions in fisheries. Thanks to its strategic location on the South Central Coast, the university's research, teaching, and technology transfer activities are closely aligned with production practices. The university has built an ecosystem for training high-quality human resources, covering the entire fisheries value chain.

The university's research has contributed to addressing challenges and enhancing the productivity and value of the fisheries industry. Nha Trang University’s strategic research focuses on areas such as climate-adaptive smart aquaculture, biotechnology applications, sustainable supply chain development, and the ocean economy. The university's vision is to become one of Asia’s leading universities in these fields.
The ICFA 2025 Conference is scheduled to last until September 17 and is expected to serve as an important forum for scientists, students, and policymakers to update the latest advances and experiences. Nha Trang University also wishes to strengthen connections and expand research cooperation, aiming to become a trusted partner and an attractive destination for cooperative activities in the Southeast Asian region.
