On the morning of September 16 in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Quy Kien received and held talks with Mr. Yasuhide Nakayama, former Minister of Defence of Japan.

Deputy Minister Tran Quy Kien affirmed that in recent years, Vietnam - Japan relations have continuously developed positively, becoming deeper and more substantive. In particular, agriculture and environment have become a highlight of cooperation, aligning the two countries’ strategic interests and sustainable development goals.

Mr. Yasuhide Nakayama expressed his pleasure in visiting and working at the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment. He highly valued Vietnam’s cooperation potential in energy, agriculture, as well as new industries linked to natural resources. He also noted that Japan is ready to share experiences and provide technical support in fields such as agricultural product preservation, long-term food storage, and the development of sustainable value chains.

Mr. Yasuhide Nakayama stressed that cooperation in agriculture and environment is not only of economic significance but also contributes to ensuring food security, enhancing climate change resilience, and strengthening ties between the two countries’ business communities.
In addition, Mr. Yasuhide Nakayama shared several directions for new technology development, including research on photonic chips and energy-saving solutions. He emphasized that Vietnam, with its telecommunications infrastructure and rare earth resources, has the potential to participate more deeply in the global technology value chain.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue promoting comprehensive cooperation, especially in green agriculture, environmental protection, and sustainable development.
