Deputy Minister Tien praised the coordination between the Department of Livestock Production and INFORMA to organize the annual Vietstock International Exhibition. "In the trend of deeper and broader regional and international integration, this expo is of utmost importance to update, promote, and develop technology, as well as improve the competitiveness of the Vietnamese livestock industry," he said. After ten effective organizations, this is the propelling force behind Vietnam's 4-6% annual livestock development.

As per Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien, animal husbandry in Vietnam and other countries is coping with several major challenges such as diseases, climate change, and notably zoonoses. However, livestock production continues to contribute significantly to food security.

Vietnam not only assures domestic food security but also contributes significantly to global food security through its agricultural output and exports to more than 200 countries and territories. Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien stated that the agriculture industry ensures food security and contributes to economic-social development regardless of the circumstances.

Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien stated that disease prevention has been effectively implemented in order to have a sustainable livestock and fisheries industry. "There have never been eight national disease prevention initiatives and strategies. In addition to epidemics, animal feed, climate change, and antibiotic resistance have presented the livestock industry with pressing needs. Therefore, the Vietstock 2023 theme "Enhance sustainable livestock to improve food security and safety" will provide an opportunity to discuss, learn, and propose solutions. Overcoming obstacles and creating new opportunities for the rapid and sustainable growth of the livestock industry."

The importance of livestock technology in enhancing the yield, quality, and efficiency of the livestock production industry cannot be overstated. Consequently, the Deputy Minister believed it necessary to foster an environment conducive to investment, research, development, and technology transfer in livestock production.

To achieve this objective, according to the chief of MARD, it is essential to establish close coordination between stakeholders, including state management agencies, businesses, researchers, and commodity associations. In accordance with the "state creates the show, science takes the lead, enterprises engage in competition, and farmers reap the benefits" spirit, domestic and foreign firms can then collaborate to invest in livestock production in Vietnam.
