Exhibition on 80 years of the agriculture and environment sector must have stature and clear imprints

(VAN) On the morning of August 25, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Phung Duc Tien directly inspected the construction progress of the Agriculture and Environment Exhibition booth.

The exhibition on achievements in agriculture and environment, themed "Steadfast in the New Era," will be held at the Vietnam Exposition Center in Dong Anh commune, Hanoi City. It is one of the key activities within the exhibition space showcasing the nation's socio-economic achievements on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Day (September 2).

From ensuring food security to becoming the world's leading agricultural exporter

Reporting to the Deputy Minister, Mr. Nguyen Minh Tien, Director of the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, said that about 70% of the work has been completed. The main booths of the sector are gradually taking shape, with many contractors working around the clock. Several construction teams are even staying overnight on-site to ensure that the entire exhibition booth is completed before August 28, in time for the opening ceremony.

"We are both accelerating progress and ensuring quality. Our goal is to create a large-scale, modern exhibition space that combines with tradition while catching up with new trends so that people and visitors can truly feel the sector's outstanding development," said Mr. Nguyen Minh Tien.

The Agriculture and Environment Exhibition is part of the series of activities celebrating the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Farming (the precursor of today's Ministry of Agriculture and Environment). It is an opportunity to honor achievements made over nearly 40 years of renewal, affirming the sector's role in ensuring national food security and Vietnam's position in agro-forestry-fishery exports.

Alongside its traditional elements, the exhibition also incorporates cutting-edge technologies. The booths are designed with modern features such as LED screens, 3D physical models, and digital spaces to illustrate the sector's 80-year journey, from its early years of ensuring food security to Vietnam's rise as a powerhouse in agricultural exports.

Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien emphasized, "This exhibition is not merely about presenting dry statistics or images, but must portray the 80-year journey of hardship as well as pride of the agriculture and environment sector. From crop cultivation, livestock production, veterinary medicine, irrigation, and forestry to resource and mineral management, all are interwoven into the broader picture of national development. This must be an exhibition of stature, clearly reflecting the sector's imprints in accompanying the nation, contributing to Vietnam’s transformation from a subsistence agriculture economy into a country with a position in the global value chain, as evidenced by billion-dollar export industries such as seafood, forestry products, rice, coffee, and pepper."

The Deputy Minister urged the Organizing Committee and contractors to pay attention not only to the content of the displays but also to their presentation, ensuring that the exhibition is not just a showcase of 80 years of achievements but also a reaffirmation of the sector’s pioneering role in developing a green economy, circular economy, and international integration.

A multicolored exhibition space

Hall A of the Vietnam National Exposition Center is dedicated to 12 artistic sectors, with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment in charge of showcasing "The Essence of Handicrafts in the Era of Digitalization and Green Economy."

According to the design, visitors will be able to admire a space that recreates the Northern countryside with its characteristic village gates and communal house gates. Inside are booths displaying renowned handicrafts such as Dong Ho paintings, Bat Trang ceramics, Thanh Ha pottery, Dai Bai bronze casting, Bau Truc pottery from Ninh Thuan, My Hiep weaving from Hau Giang, and Kim Bong carpentry from Quang Nam. Embroidery, silk, and rattan products are also featured, creating a diverse picture of Vietnam's handicraft essence.

At the center of the craft village area are two live performance islands where artisans will showcase their skills, giving visitors the chance to witness the handicraft-making process firsthand. This is not only an experiential activity but also an affirmation of the connection between traditional craft villages and the development of rural tourism, stretching from the Red River Delta to the Central region, the Central Highlands, and the South.

Notably, the exhibition will also have a booth livestreaming directly on TikTok Shop, helping to connect agricultural and handicraft products with the digital market, opening up new consumption channels in the context of the rapid growth of e-commerce.
