In the recent industry summary on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the agriculure sector, Vietnam's export has achieved outstanding progress. It is expected that in the last months of this year there would be many important steps in the import-export scene, hence the requirement for ensuring import-export activities. Borderland provinces, such as Lang Son, play a vital role.
In 2021, Vietnam’s total export value reached USD 48.7 billion.
Dong Dang - Lang Son border gate economic zone is one of eight key economic zones nationwide. Therefore, in recent years, Lang Son province has focused a lot of resources to invest and develop economic and social infrastructure. This includes the application of a digital border gate platform at Huu Nghi international border gate and Tan Thanh border gate; creation of a solid infrastructure for fast and sustainable development of the border gate economy; strict management, transparency enhancement, and prevention of negatives and risk of revenue loss to the state budget. The actions also involve developing facilities, transport infrastructure, warehouse systems to best serve the import and export work in the province.
Lang Son People's Committee has also proposed to the Prime Minister to adjust functional zones in the Dong Dang - Lang Son international border gate economic zone as well as the Chi Ma border gate and orient Chi Ma border gate to become an international border gate by 2030, thereby creating a solid foundation to promote the potential and advantages of Dong Dang - Lang Son international border gate economic zone as well as other border gates in the province.
“In order to fully utilize the potential and advantages, following the direction of the provincial People's Committee, the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son border gate economic zone is coordinating with relevant agencies to study and propose local adjustment of functional zones in the border gate economic zone in accordance with the actual situation as well as the development of each stage. The goal is to attract investment, focus all resources to invest and develop infrastructure along with the warehouse and yard system, improve the logistics system and e-commerce in order to fully promote the potential and advantages of border gates in Lang Son,” said Mr. Le Van Thang, Head of Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son border gate economic zone.
There are only two months left until the end of 2022, which is the time to harvest many fruits and agro-products in the country. The Lunar New Year is also coming near for the two countries Vietnam and China. Therefore, the demand for exchange, purchase and sale of imported and exported goods to serve enterprises’ production, as well as the consumption of the two countries’ people, will increase sharply. It is expected that the volume of goods concentrated at border gates in Lang Son province will be massive.
The functional forces of Lang Son will thus put all their heart and mind to create the maximum conditions for the customs clearance of goods, especially fruits and agro-products of Vietnam.
To take an active stance in regulating and distributing import-export vehicle lines, avoiding congestion and negative impact on custom clearance activities for import-export goods at border gates, the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son border gate economic zone will provide direction and coordinate with relevant agencies to develop countermeasures for each specific situation. Dong Dang - Lang Son border gate economic zone is developing solutions for each case if the number of trucks went up to 1,000 per day, 1,500 trucks per day or even 2,000 trucks per day went to Lang Son. Our aim is to have appropriate solutions for traffic regulation.
“First of all, in the past 10 months of the year, Vietnam's export turnover has increased. The number of declarations is 6,447 and the recorded turnover is USD 256 million, up 18% compared to the same period last year. This dramatic increase in turnover is mainly because of the implementation of the protocol between Vietnam and China, starting from September 2022. According to the forecast of the Sub-department of Customs of Huu Nghi border gate, in the remaining months of 2022 the export turnover will continue to experience a strong increase, particularly for durian after the protocol between Vietnam and China is signed,” said Mr. Pham Thanh Cam, Deputy Director of Sub-department of Customs of Huu Nghi border gate.
