Global coffee prices rebounded sharply today due to concerns over supply risks as frost conditions have begun to appear in Brazil.

Cold weather in Brazil and the risk of frost damage to coffee trees are raising alarms, while Cooxupé’s harvesting progress has reached 59% of the expected crop, but remains behind last year’s pace.

Robusta coffee inventories monitored by ICE have climbed to the highest level in 11.5 months, whereas Arabica inventories have dropped to their lowest in three months. Despite weather risks in Brazil, harvesting activities in both Brazil and Indonesia are proceeding smoothly, and Vietnam's 2025–2026 crop output is forecast to rise by 7%.

However, the market is closely watching the potential U.S. imposition of a 50% tariff on imports from Brazil, which could significantly affect global coffee prices due to its impact on U.S. consumption demand. In addition, an excessive amount of short-selling by funds in the Robusta market may trigger short-covering, pushing prices even higher.

Thus, global coffee prices on July 23, 2025, rose sharply across the board compared to the previous day.
