Harvest of shrimp along with rice in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam.
Accordingly, the World Bank (WB) and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) have agreed to provide a loan for the combined rice and shrimp farming project. The project is expected to be implemented in Hon Dat district, Kien Giang province from 2023 to 2026. The project has a total cost of $26.6 million, equivalent to VND624 billion - enough to complete infrastructure such as irrigation, roads, and power supply systems.
The project is set up to include shrimp farming combined with rice farming and the production of giant freshwater shrimp, to realize Kien Giang province's goal of bringing the aquaculture industry to an annual output of 484,800 tons of seafood by 2030.
