Attending the conference were Prof. Dr. Sci. Phan Xuan Dung - President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA); Prof. Dr. Sci. Banh Tien Long - President of the Vietnam Association of Science Editing (VASE), former Standing Deputy Minister of Education and Training; and Dr. People’s Teacher Dang Huynh Mai - former Deputy Minister of Education and Training, among others.
The conference took place in the context of the Party’s Resolution No. 57 on advancing science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, which is being implemented in alignment with government and local action programs.
IMEDS 2025 featured four main discussion sessions, with scientists from Canada, South Korea, Japan, and Indonesia participating. Nearly 200 papers and poster presentations focused on mechanics, automotive engineering, automation, electrical and electronic engineering, precision manufacturing, energy, digitalization, artificial intelligence, information technology, and new materials, reflecting the urgent demands of industrialization, modernization, and digital transformation.
In his opening speech, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Rector of Vinh Long University of Technology Education, highlighted that sustainable development has become a global objective, aimed at improving the quality of human life and protecting the environment. The conference serves not only as a platform for exchanging knowledge but also as an opportunity to develop a comprehensive approach that supports policymakers, enterprises, and the research community in strategically positioning science and technology development, fostering innovation, and promoting digital transformation in ways that are adapted to local conditions.
Rector Nguyen Thanh Tung further affirmed the university’s commitment to continuously expanding academic programs in alignment with societal needs, intensifying the integration of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in teaching and management, creating a flexible and personalized learning environment, and strengthening international collaboration in education and research.
Echoing this perspective, Professor Dr. Sci. Phan Xuan Dung, President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA), underscored that sustainable development is not merely a theoretical concept but an urgent necessity for the planet's future. He noted that challenges such as climate change, resource depletion, and environmental degradation demand coordinated efforts across multiple sectors. Science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation lie at the forefront of these efforts, and IMEDS 2025 provides a critical platform to foster the development and implementation of sustainable solutions across scientific, industrial, and policy domains.

Beyond presenting research results, the conference provided a valuable platform to strengthen international collaboration, bridging the gap between scientific and technological advancements and real-world practical needs. It played a crucial role in shaping the direction of future research, educational programs, and technology applications.
For VLUTE, the event held special significance as it was part of the university’s 65th anniversary celebrations. The conference also represented a key milestone in implementing Resolution 57, highlighting VLUTE’s firm commitment to promoting scientific research, accelerating digital transformation, advancing STEM education, and cultivating highly skilled human resources capable of meeting the demands of modern industry and society.
At the event, Ms. Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh, Vice Chairwoman of the Vinh Long Provincial People’s Committee, highlighted that VLUTE plays a central role in training highly skilled human resources and promoting science, technology, and innovation. She expressed confidence that VLUTE will continue to grow, contributing to developing a high-quality workforce that meets the expectations of the Government, central and local authorities, and the community.
“Looking ahead, the university needs to concretize the tasks and solutions outlined in the Party’s Resolution 71, aligning them with its mission and vision in the context of international integration. The Provincial Party Committee and People’s Committee will continue to accompany and create favorable conditions for the university to fulfill its mission,” Ms. Thanh emphasized.
