Online forum on technology exchange and import - export agricultural products between Vietnam - Japan.
Vietnam's agriculture is facing many challenges, such as the demand for food is constantly increasing due to the growing population; agricultural land area is increasingly shrinking due to urbanization trend; the strong occurrence of climate change; the process of integration into the international economy requires a constantly increasing quality of agricultural products.
These challenges require Vietnamese agricultural products to change to adapt, the most important of which is innovation in production thinking. The application of high technology is an inevitable trend in agricultural production, helping to solve both traditional and non-traditional challenges.
At the Vietnam - Japan Technology and Agricultural Product Exchange Forum, Chairman of the Vietnam Digital Agricultural Products Association (VIDA), Mr. Truong Gia Binh asked SBI Group (Japan) to research and support VIDA and businesses. Vietnamese industry is allowed to use traceability technology and cold/cool preservation technology in some key product groups of Vietnam in 2022.
In addition, he expressed his wish that VIDA and its members could facilitate negotiations with distributors and retailers in Japan, and increase the export of some typical Vietnamese products. VIDA hopes to become an importer and distributor of Japanese products in Vietnam.
In the long-term, VIDA will coordinate with SBI Group to research and submit to the government, ministries and relevant sectors of the two countries large scale investment projects in fruit processing and preservation centers according to Japanese market standards in Vietnam.

SBI Group is a major player in financial services, asset management and biotechnology. Mr. Yoshitaka Kitao, Managing Director, hoped that the Vietnam - Japan Agriculture and Technology Exchange Forum would contribute to promoting cooperation in the agricultural field between the two countries.
“We believe that if we can gather useful information for stakeholders in a high-traffic market and transparently list products, we can expect to increase the power of the brand name of Vietnamese goods," said Mr. Yoshitaka Kitao.
Recently, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and many senior leaders of Vietnam paid an official visit to Japan from November 22 - 25. The two sides have made many commitments and joint statements on cooperation, including in the agricultural sector.
In Japan, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan attended and witnessed the signing ceremony of 4 Memorandum of Understanding between Japanese enterprises and Vietnamese enterprises and localities.
Specifically, the cooperation between Satake Group and ThaiBinh Seed Group Joint Stock Company on the strategy of developing rice processing activities in Vietnam; between Phu Yen province and Kiyomura Group on fisheries development; between Phu Yen province and eREX on developing raw material areas for sorghum cultivation; and between Vinh Phuc province, Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk), Vietnam Livestock Corporation (VLC) and Sojitz Group on the beef project.
Since Vietnam and Japan officially established diplomatic relations in 1973, the cooperation between Vietnam and Japan has been continuously promoted and developed in almost all fields, especially in the field of agriculture. Cooperation in agriculture between the two countries has deepened and is actively contributing to the economic development of both countries.
VIDA President Truong Gia Binh believes that the Japanese market is very potential for Vietnamese agricultural products. Vietnamese fruits are very popular in this market. On the contrary, Mr. Binh also said that Japan also has many production lines and advanced and modern technologies towards green agriculture. Through the forum, he hopes, he can introduce to businesses advanced technologies and a number of high quality agricultural products, in line with the standards of the two countries' markets.
