Mr. Ha Ngoc Linh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of A Lu commune (Bat Xat district, Lao Cai) said that currently, the commune is mobilizing people to participate in the national target program. Accordingly, people in the two villages of Ngai Thau Thuong and Ngai Thau Ha are eager to plant tortoise-shell bamboo, covering bare land and bare hills, and earn income.

In this area, the weather and soil conditions are very suitable for growing tortoise-shell bamboo. This is a multi-purpose agricultural plant that is also native to the land.

Currently, people in the 2 villages have planted about 10 ha of bamboo on vacant land. The goal is to grow tortoise-shell bamboo to get bamboo shoots and make rattan. After planting, the bamboo will be harvested after about a year, thereby generating income for indigenous people.

It is known that Ngai Thau Thuong is the highest village in Vietnam, about 2,100m above sea level. With the weather, climate, and soil of the two villages at an altitude of 1,800-2,100m, the tortoise-shell bamboo can grow well.
