La Vie Co. Ltd, a member of Nestlé enterprise, has constantly strived to protect water resources for future generations, as well as to develop the enterprise sustainably.

To achieve that goal, recently, the La Vie factory in Hung Yen has become the second unit in Vietnam to meet international standards in joining hands to manage water resources (AWS standard), following the La Vie factory in Long An.

Alliance for Water Stewardship (International Organization for water conservation) has just granted certification to the La Vie factory in Hung Yen. This is one of La Vie's efforts to protect water resources towards the goal of sustainable development.

Up until now, La Vie factory in Hung Yen has continuously invested in activities to protect the common water sources, such as ensuring that every drop of La Vie's wastewater returned to the environment is strictly controlled through an automatic wastewater monitoring system so as not to affect the environment. These water sources can also be used for agricultural irrigation.

The garbage cleaning activities in the common canal at Nhu Quynh pumping station (Van Lam, Hung Yen) are carried out daily by La Vie and maintained for many years in order to improve the water environment for the community. They also have a program to support households to connect to the city's standard domestic water system; improve sanitation and water quality in the local schools.

AWS is one of the key programs that Nestlé commits to deploy to all members of the group's water sector by 2025, including La Vie.

This is a globally applicable model for water using enterprises and organizations to understand the challenges and opportunities of water resources in the region. Accordingly, the enterprise will work with relevant units to deal with difficulties, aiming to ensure the water balance in the basin, water quality and fairness in using clean water, protecting the water ecosystem.

Therefore, not only do they apply the initiative to save water at the factory, La Vie also shares with other businesses and the community to implement together. At the same time, La Vie works with local authorities and schools to raise community awareness of water challenges.

To achieve AWS certification, businesses need to meet the criteria and targets according to the standard which consists of 5 steps with strict requirements in each step. The assessment is conducted by an independent organization under the close supervision of AWS International. Moreover, after obtaining certification, the enterprise will be re-evaluated annually to ensure that water protection activities are continued and improved.

During nearly 30 years of operation in Vietnam, through the "Creating Shared Value" program, La Vie Company has had many contributions to the community and created common values for related units and society for a long time towards the goal of sustainable development. Recently, La Vie has announced a goal to return clean water to the community and environment by 2025, equivalent to 100% of the water the company had used in production activities.
