Thai Nguyen aims to have at least 20 OCOP products with 3 stars or higher

From the beginning of 2024, Thai Nguyen province has implemented the program "One commune, one product (OCOP)" to develop branded OCOP products according to the value chain based on the strengths and advantages of local raw materials, culture, and indigenous knowledge, especially specialties, products, craft village products and tourism services of villages, communes and communities towards a circular economy, ensure a sustainable ecosystem solid.

By 2024, Thai Nguyen strives to achieve at least 20 OCOP products of 3 stars or higher; consolidate, upgrade, evaluate, and re-recognize products assessed and ranked according to the subjects' needs. At the same time, it promotes the combined strength of the entire political system, especially the commune and district levels, in implementing the OCOP program, creating unity in awareness and action, promoting the initiative, dynamism, creativity, and spirit of cooperation of subjects and communities to implement the OCOP program in the province effectively.

To achieve the set goals, the Thai Nguyen province promotes communication work. It regularly raises awareness about the OCOP program and links and integrates with propaganda activities in new rural construction through mass media from the central to commune and hamlet levels. Diversify forms of communication through electronic information portals (OCOP Thai Nguyen website, Thai Nguyen new rural website), social media, magazines, newsletters, topics, documents (handbooks, handbook...), loudspeaker systems....; Build hoardings, posters, and slogans about the OCOP program in districts and cities in the province. Coordinate with media and press agencies to write propaganda articles and create propaganda clips and reports about the OCOP program.

At the same time, strengthen training to improve the capacity of staff implementing the OCOP program at district and commune levels and the quality of assessment and classification of OCOP products; Organize training classes for OCOP subjects on digital transformation; innovate the form of production organization; management skills; marketing, sales; Skills in packaging design, labeling, and product design; intellectual property, traceability along the value chain, increased use and exploitation of community brands of products from rural areas; promotion...

Enhance digital transformation in OCOP and promote the application of information technology and digital transformation during implementation. Digitize the process of receiving applications, scoring, evaluating, and classifying OCOP products on software; digitize products and apply a traceability system along the OCOP product value chain, aiming to form a national database system on the OCOP Program. At the same time, promote the development of e-commerce for OCOP products through e-commerce platforms, online sales channels,...; Support points of sale and introduce OCOP products; Support packaging design, models, and stamp printing; support for building and registering product trademarks; Build product websites for entities whose products participate in the OCOP cycle.

Promote trade promotion activities, connecting supply and demand for OCOP products through fairs, exhibitions, and events to honor, promote, and introduce OCOP products; Promote consumption of OCOP products associated with the tourism market. Promote trade promotion on the basis of digital technology and the application of information technology related to exploiting the advantages of rural tourism. Associate OCOP products with gift products, gifts, and local specialty products.

Statistics from 2020 up to now, Thai Nguyen agriculture and rural development sector has supported the construction and formation of over 130 OCOP product introduction and sales points at the commune level, over 20 district-level points; coordinated to build points to introduce and sell OCOP products, essential agricultural products, typical and specialties of the province at Hai Dang Rest Station and Trade Promotion Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development...

As of March 2024, Thai Nguyen has 240 OCOP products (including 149 3-star products, 89 4-star products, and two 5-star products). OCOP products in Thai Nguyen province are increasingly diverse, rich, of good quality, and traceable to their origin. Many products are designed with beautiful, sophisticated, unique designs, taking advantage of local resources. Many domestic and foreign customers have increasingly trusted and appreciated the products for their quality, gradually affirming their value and reputation in the market.

The One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program has promoted creativity, the application of science and technology, and mobilizing resources for groups and individuals. At the same time, it promotes the abundant potential and advantages of regions in Thai Nguyen province. It will create products with high economic value that consumers favor, bring significant income to subjects, and promote rural economic development.
