The newly recognized banyans are located in plot 1, compartment 4, sub-zone 433B, and plot 3, compartment 2, sub-zone 433A. These ancient trees, aged between 218 and 300 years, stand 32 to 42 meters tall on average. They hold significant ecological value tied to the history of the Konkakinh forest ecosystem and play a crucial role in preserving biodiversity in the Central Highlands.

According to Recognition Decision No. 180, the heritage banyans will receive expert guidance on care and longevity. They will also be promoted and featured on the official media channels of the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment.

This recognition not only supports forest ecosystem protection but also raises community awareness about safeguarding these “green treasures” of nature.

The Director of Konkakinh National Park, the Chairman of Ayun Commune, and the local community are responsible for coordinating with the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment to manage, care for, and promote the value of the six heritage trees.

“This is a great honor for Konkakinh National Park and affirms Gia Lai’s potential and advantages in developing eco-tourism associated with nature conservation”, said Ngo Van Thang, Director of Konkakinh National Park.
