Affirming that Vietnam and Senegal enjoy a traditional friendship and sound cooperation, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the spirit of “working together, sharing benefits, and developing together.” He stated that Vietnam is willing to continue sending agricultural experts to share development experience and support Senegal in ensuring food security through new and increasingly effective approaches.
As Vietnam has become an observer of the African Union (AU), the Prime Minister requested that Senegal support and act as a bridge to help Vietnam strengthen ties with African countries and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS); and continue facilitating Vietnamese citizens, workers, and people of Vietnamese origin living and working in Senegal.
Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko expressed his pleasure at meeting Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, affirming that Senegal always values its friendly cooperation with Vietnam. He expected that the two countries would further promote delegation exchanges and people-to-people ties, and affirmed Senegal’s willingness to serve as a bridge to promote cooperation between Vietnam and both the AU and ECOWAS. He also encouraged Vietnam to boost investment in the West African market, which has 400 million consumers.
Prime Minister Sonko expressed his gratitude for Vietnam’s support in agriculture and hoped that Vietnam would continue to assist Senegal in rice and cashew production.
He also highly appreciated the success of Vietnam’s agricultural cooperation model with other countries and expressed hope that Vietnam would continue to expand this model with Senegal and other countries in the Global South.
At the meeting, the two sides agreed to enhance high-level and all-level delegation exchanges, further strengthen trade and investment promotion, business connectivity, and facilitate market access for each other’s key export products.
