With the goal of establishing the general livestock database, the Department of Livestock Production cooperates with VNPT Group to build and pilot a tool software for collecting, updating, and forming a database on animal feed and a database on livestock establishments.

Up to this point, the Department of Livestock Production and VNPT Group has collected data on all domestic animal feed factories. In this July they will coordinate to collect data on livestock establishments in the localities.

Sharing about the next steps, Mr. Nguyen Tat Thang, Head of the Department of Digital Transformation for Natural Resources, Environment and Agriculture, said that VNPT Group is determined to stick to the goal of digital transformation of the agriculture industry based on the current status of administrative work, management, and the deployed information systems, thereby deciding appropriate steps for agencies in the agriculture industry to acquire the highest efficiency in service of the people and digital economy.

Accordingly there calls for a need to review, perfect, and upgrade systems that have been built to inherit previously deployed results and integrate them into the common base system of ministries and branches. For contents that need to be built new, it is essential to analyze thoroughly and disseminate a reasonable priority order to calculate the appropriate implementation plan. The goal is to ensure quick resolution of demanding issues as well as the inclusion of content in the long run.

“Particular priority should be given to digital transformation for key national agro-products and commodities with high economic value and export advantages. The most important matter is to bring benefits to farmers, communities and businesses," said Mr. Thang.

In the next phase, VNPT Group will also continue to promote the application of modern technologies such as artificial intelligence - AI or Blockchain to realize the synchronous digital transformation associated with warning and forecasting work to bring maximum efficiency in the future of digital agriculture.

In order to better coordinate with VNPT Group in the process of digital transformation of the livestock industry, Mr. Nguyen Vu Ninh, Permanent member of the Digital Transformation Team of the Department of Livestock Production, suggested VNPT Group continue to adhere to the guidelines and orientations of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in the work of digital transformation of the agriculture sector and investment in technology and resources to guarantee the success of the digital transformation of the livestock sector in particular, the agriculture and rural development sector in general.

Along with that, Mr. Ninh also suggested the leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development consider replicating and speeding up the construction of information systems and databases in all fields to implement digital transformation in the entire sector.

The Livestock Development Strategy signed and promulgated by the Prime Minister on October 6, 2020 in Decision No. 1520/QD-TTg set the goal: “In the 2021 - 2025 period, the average growth in production value from 4 to 5%/year. The output of carcasses of all kinds is from 5.0 to 5.5 million tons, of which: pork increases from 63 to 65%, poultry meat from 26 to 28%, and meat from grass-fed cattle from 8 to 10%. Egg production is from 18 to 19 billion eggs, milk from 1.7 to 1.8 million tons.”

Therefore, the digital transformation of livestock production will contribute to accelerating industrialization and modernization; comprehensive, effective and sustainable livestock development; climate change adaptation associated with value chain development; increase added value; ensure biosecurity, epidemics prevention and environmental protection.

Digital transformation of livestock production can help farms and breeding households develop toward a professional direction. Livestock products can ensure biosecurity, disease safety, environmental-friendly quality, meet the requirements for domestic consumption and export, create jobs, and increase income for the people.
