Latest domestic and global pepper price update on 10/01/2024
Globally, pepper prices on October 1 showed mixed fluctuations.
In Indonesia, the price of Lampung black pepper dropped by 0.04%, reaching $ 6,939/ton. Meanwhile, Muntok white pepper from the same country saw a significant decrease of 1.64%, settling at $ 9,278/ton.
In Malaysia, Kuching ASTA black pepper increased by 1.12%, reaching $ 8,900/ton, while ASTA white pepper rose by 1.75%, priced at $ 11,400/ton.
In Brazil, ASTA 570 black pepper was traded at $ 6,750/ton.
In Vietnam, export prices for 500 g/l black pepper were traded at $ 6,800/ton, and for 550 g/l black pepper at $ 7,100/ton. Export prices for white pepper stood at $ 10,150/ton.
World pepper prices today showed mixed reactions, decreasing in Indonesia but increasing significantly in Malaysia. Other countries remained unchanged.
Thus, the global pepper prices on 10/01/2024, fluctuated unevenly compared to yesterday.
In the domestic market, pepper prices on October 1 showed mixed increases and decreases compared to yesterday.
Specifically, Dak Lak purchased pepper at VND 148,500/kg (up VND 500);
Pepper prices in Dak Nong today remained at VND 149,000/kg (up VND 1,500);
Pepper prices in Gia Lai today traded at VND 148,000/kg;
Traders in Dong Nai continued to purchase pepper at VND 148,000/kg;
Pepper prices in Ba Ria - Vung Tau today are at VND 148,000/kg;
Meanwhile, traders in Binh Phuoc traded pepper at VND 148,000/kg (down VND 1,000).
Domestic pepper prices today fell by VND 1,000 in Binh Phuoc but increased in Dak Lak and Dak Nong. Meanwhile, prices in other key regions remained unchanged.
According to preliminary data from the General Department of Customs recently released, in September 2024, Vietnam exported 20,000 tons of pepper, earning $ 125 million, an increase of 10.4% in volume but a sharp rise of 84.9% in value compared to the same period last year.
Since the beginning of the year, pepper exports have reached 203,000 tons, generating over $ 1 billion, a decrease of 1.5% in volume but an increase of 46.9% in value. This is due to the sharp rise in export pepper prices, which have surged 49.2% compared to the same period last year, reaching $ 4,941/ton.
The average export price in September 2024 was $ 6,239/ton, up 67.5% from the same month last year, marking the highest export price in many years.
Meanwhile, in the domestic market, pepper prices increased by VND 2,000 - 3,000 /kg in September 2024.
