Pepper prices on May 9 globally 

In the global market, the pepper market on May 9 fluctuated in different directions.

In Indonesia, the price of Lampung black pepper decreased by an additional 0.18%, reaching $ 4,902/ton. Meanwhile, the price of Muntok white pepper in the country slightly decreased by 0.16%, standing at $ 6,447/ton.

The price of Kuching ASTA black pepper in Malaysia remained stable at $ 4,900/ton, while the ASTA white pepper from this country still maintained its price at $ 7,300/ton.

In Brazil, the price of ASTA 570 black pepper remained at $ 4,900/ton.

As for Vietnam, the export prices of black pepper, grades 500 and 550 g/l, increased to $ 4,600 and $ 4,700/ton, respectively. The export price of white pepper increased by $ 100 to reach $ 6,600/ton.

Global black pepper prices today showed mixed movements. Specifically, Vietnam's export price of pepper increased sharply, while Indonesia saw a slight decrease; meanwhile, other markets remained stable.

Thus, the global black pepper price on 05/09/2024 continued to decrease slightly in Indonesia compared to the previous day.

Pepper prices on May 9 domestically

In the domestic market, black pepper prices on May 9 surged compared to the previous day.

Specifically, in Dak Lak, black pepper is being purchased at a price of VND 104,000/kg.

In Dak Nong, the price of black pepper increased by VND 1,000, reaching VND 103,000/kg.

Similarly, black pepper prices in Gia Lai also rose to VND 103,000/kg.

Traders in Dong Nai province are buying black pepper at VND 103,000/kg, an increase of VND 1,000.

Similarly, the latest black pepper price in Ba Ria - Vung Tau is VND 104,000/kg, after increasing by VND 1,000.

Meanwhile, traders in Binh Phuoc province are trading at VND 103,500/kg, a significant increase of VND 1,500.

The domestic black pepper price today remained steady in Dak Lak but saw significant increases ranging from VND 1,000 - VND 1,500/kg in other key regions.

According to preliminary statistics from the Vietnam Pepper Association (VSPA), Vietnam imported 4,281 tons of various types of black pepper in April 2024. Of these, black pepper accounted for 4,085 tons, while white pepper reached 196 tons. The total import turnover of black pepper in Vietnam reached $ 15.6 million, up 14.9% compared to the previous month.

Vietnam's black pepper imports mainly came from Brazil with 1,766 tons (accounting for 41.3%); Cambodia with 1,678 tons (accounting for 39.2%); and Indonesia with 629 tons (accounting for 14.7%).

In the first four months of 2024, Vietnam imported a total of 12,269 tons of black pepper. Of these, black pepper accounted for 11,748 tons, while white pepper reached 521 tons, marking a 20.5% increase compared to the same period last year.

Brazil is the largest supplier of black pepper to Vietnam, accounting for 50%, but showing a decrease of 4.5% compared to the same period last year. Conversely, black pepper imports from Cambodia increased sharply by 119.4% (reaching 3,762 tons), while those from Indonesia, ranked third, increased by 14% (reaching 1,393 tons).

Thus, the domestic black pepper price on 05/09/2024 is trading around VND 103,000 - VND 104,000/kg.
