Nghe An's export turnover is estimated at $2.52 billion

(VAN) Nghe An's total export turnover in 2022 is estimated at $2.52 billion, exceeding 7.2% of the plan. Many agro-products grew over the same period in 2021.

In 2022, the world economy showed signs of prosperity again, and many countries boldly opened their doors and loosened monetary policies. However, due to the impact of the Russia-Ukraine conflict along with the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic, the recovery process was slower than previously forecast.

Inflation occurred in many countries, especially in essential partner countries of Vietnam. Sharp fluctuations in oil prices and some commodities affect all aspects, including import and export activities. Nghe An cannot avoid that trend. However, with the attention and direction of the Government, Ministry of Industry and Trade, MARD, Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, especially the efforts of businesses in the province, import and export activities in the area in 2022 still recorded a high growth momentum compared to the same period in 2021.

In 2022, the export market will be expanded in the direction of diversification. The export effectively takes advantage of markets with FTAs that Vietnam has signed. Nghe An businesses have exported to more than 127 countries and territories around the world. The markets with the largest market share are still China (accounting for 24.6% of total exports), South Korea (accounting for 13%), Hong Kong (accounting for 11.3%), Taiwan (accounting for 7.8%), the US (accounting for 11.3%)...\

Nghe An's total export turnover in 2022 is estimated at $2.52 billion, up 3.7% over the same period last year, exceeding 7.2% of the plan. The export of goods is expected to reach $2.17 billion, up 2.6% compared to 2021, exceeding 8.4% of the plan. Many items show growth over the same period in 2021. Notably, products in the agriculture and rural development sectors such as processed fruits and fruit juices increased by 17%, wood pellets increased by 320%…

In general, the state management of import and export, border trade, international economic integration, and foreign affairs have been paid great attention to and drastically implemented by Nghe An. The connected and gathered business leaders via the digital platform (Zalo-Group of Import-Export Business Directors, Export Promotion Group) regularly exchange and update information on the market, product demand, and export promotion.

The state management, guidance, and direction of rice export are well accomplished. Units implement the State's regulations under Decree 107/2018/ND-CP of the Government by regularly informing businesses about rice import and export policies. They also promptly advise the Provincial People's Committee to direct the departments and industries to implement the opinion of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh on the situation of rice exports in 2022…

In order for green tea to conquer difficult markets in the world, requires businesses and growers to 'raise' their products.

In order for green tea to conquer difficult markets in the world, requires businesses and growers to "raise" their products.

Besides the positive aspects, it can be seen that the activities of organizing export promotion abroad still face many difficulties and challenges. For example, in China, the country is increasingly strengthening its law enforcement work and border trade policies toward increased surveillance. China strictly implements regulations on agricultural and aquatic product import activities on the land border through traceability, packaging specifications, food hygiene, and safety. The General Administration of Customs of China issued Order 249 on “Measures for managing import and export food safety” and Order 248 “Regulations on registration and management of foreign food production businesses”.

To meet this requirement, Vietnamese products must be truly "upgraded", although solving the root cause is not an overnight story.

Product quality is a vital factor, contributing to, and at the same time, a drag on exports. The most obvious example is tea, Nghe An's green tea products are mainly exported to Afghanistan and Pakistan. In addition, there are Taiwan, Iran, and the UAE, which are low-end markets, not too strict in terms of technical standards, on the contrary, easily pressured.

The state management agency said that, at present, the quality standards of Nghe An tea are difficult to enter the fastidious market, requiring high technology. The reason is understood that the production and cultivation process is not guaranteed, the product has pesticide residues, and there is no tea growing area. Tea gardens are formed according to the standards of the growing area. However, the technology has been almost unchanged during the past 10 years.
