Explaining Argentina’s decision to establish the Special Attaché Office for the Agro-Industrial Sector in Hanoi, H.E. Marcos A. Bednarski, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Argentine Republic to Vietnam, highlighted Vietnam’s strategic geographic location and its strong economic potential as key factors.

According to him, Vietnam holds a strategic geographical position in the region and is Argentina’s third-largest trading partner in Asia, and seventh globally. Since the establishment of the Comprehensive Partnership in 2010, bilateral trade has grown steadily, particularly in the agro-industrial sector. Vietnam is currently among Argentina’s top five agricultural export markets, reflecting a high level of complementarity between the two economies.

Ambassador Bednarski also pointed out the growing academic and scientific collaboration between the two countries, particularly through joint research initiatives involving leading universities and research institutes in the field of agriculture. These initiatives not only strengthen knowledge exchange but also pave the way for innovations that can enhance productivity and sustainability in both countries’ agricultural sectors.

Argentina and Vietnam are two complementary economies, with high-quality human resources capable of elevating our bilateral relationship to new heights. That is why Argentina has decided to open the Special Attaché Office for the Agro-Industrial Sector here, marking an important milestone in expanding cooperation between our two countries,” Ambassador Marcos A. Bednarski shared.

Mr. Agustín Tejeda Rodriguez, the Undersecretary of Food Markets and International Integration under the Ministry of Economy of the Argentine Republic, affirmed that Vietnam being chosen as one of six locations worldwide for the Argentina’s Special Attaché Office for the Agro-Industrial Sector reflects the high level of priority that the Argentine government places on its relationship with Vietnam. The office is expected to serve as a bridge to foster technical cooperation, trade, investment, and the development of the agro-industrial sector between the two countries.

“I hope that the opening of the Argentina’s Special Attaché Office for the Agro-Industrial Sector in Hanoi will generate many new opportunities and open market access for products between Vietnam and Argentina. At the same time, Argentina will make greater efforts to accelerate negotiations and soon conclude a Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Mercosur bloc, thereby laying a solid foundation for bilateral economic and trade relations in the coming time,” Mr. Agustín Tejeda Rodriguez stated.

The Argentinean Institutional and Economic-Commercial Mission will visit Vietnam between June 30 and July 4, 2025. The mission will be led by the Undersecretary of Food Markets and International Integration, Agustín Tejeda Rodriguez, with the participation of many industry associations and large businesses.

The official authorities will hold meetings with officials from the Vietnamese Ministries of Agriculture and Environment and Industry and Trade to advance exchanges on various topics on the bilateral agenda. The mission will also carry out activities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. It will have the support of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), and the program will include an "Argentina-Vietnam Business Opportunities Seminar" as well as B2B meetings between Argentine and Vietnamese companies in both cities.

Mr. Agustín Tejeda Rodriguez further noted that during this working visit, Argentina will present a new roadmap for cooperation in animal and plant quarantine, with a highlight being a foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) vaccine project - one of the country’s leading strengths. In addition, projects related to fruit trees, rice, dairy, and biotechnology will also be introduced to promote cooperation and expand the export of Argentine agricultural products to the Vietnamese market.
