Javan pangolin rescued in Ha Tinh province

(VAN) On July 4, Cuc Phuong National Park received a notice from the Ha Tinh Forest Protection Department requesting to receive one Javan pangolin.

The individual was voluntarily handed over by Mr. Tran Hai Nam (residence at house No. 04, Nguyen Hoanh Tu street, residential group 3, Ha Huy Tap ward). Mr. Nam said, on the way to exercise in the afternoon, he saw this Javan pangolin lying on the side of the road in a weak condition, so he took it home to take care of him. After learning that this is a rare animal, he contacted Ha Tinh Forest Protection Department to secure his safety.

As soon as receiving the notification, the Cuc Phuong National Park Rescue Team combined with a team of veterinarians from Save Vietnam's Wildlife (SVW) set out to rescue this individual.

"During the rescue, we found that this young pangolin is in a state of dehydration, hunger and fatigue," one team member said.

After more than six hours of traveling, at 3 am on July 5, the baby Javan pangolin arrived safely in Cuc Phuong National Park and is currently being cared for and actively treated at the health rehabilitation area.
