India, South Korea, and Switzerland pledge over 4 million USD to Northern Vietnam.
According to the latest information from the International Cooperation Department (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), on the afternoon of September 13, the Indian Embassy announced that the Indian Government will provide essential goods to support Vietnamese citizens affected by typhoon No. 3 (typhoon Yagi).
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will coordinate with Indian agencies to prioritize five groups of equipment, including generators, solar-powered lighting, water purifiers, mosquito nets, and kitchen equipment.
Additionally, through the Swiss Humanitarian Aid Unit, the Swiss Government will allocate 1 million Swiss Francs (equivalent to 1.2 million USD) for rescue efforts of typhoon Yagi and send six experts to the frontlines of the relief operations.
Switzerland will also supply essential items, including 300 tents and a water distribution system capable of serving 10,000 people. Switzerland is working closely with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to expedite the delivery of these supplies to the hardest-hit areas, aiming to provide immediate relief to those in urgent need.
Earlier, on September 12, the South Korean Government decided to provide 2 million USD in humanitarian aid to Vietnam to support ongoing relief efforts in response to typhoon Yagi.
According to the South Korean Embassy, this is part of the South Korean Government's response to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development's call on September 9 for assistance to northern provinces and cities.
The South Korean Government hopes that this aid will support the recovery of the affected areas and help residents there soon return to their normal lives.
