The 9th National Farmers' Forum

Within the framework of the program “Proud Vietnamese Farmers 2024”, the 9th National Farmers Forum in 2024 will be held at 8:00 a.m. on October 14 at the Conference Center 37 Hung Vuong, Ba Dinh, Hanoi with the theme: “Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers’ Union – Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development listens to farmers”. The message of the forum is “Together we share, together we listen”.

The 9th National Farmers' Forum: "Listening to farmers speak" is an opportunity for leaders to listen to outstanding farmers, typical cooperatives, and businesses share their difficulties and problems in the fields of agriculture, farmers, and rural areas.

This is also an opportunity for them to propose, reflect, and express their thoughts, aspirations, and recommendations to the Vietnam Farmers' Union and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. On that basis, there will be reports, summaries, and recommendations to the Party and the State on specific policies to help farmers actively participate in production.

Through synthesizing the opinions of members and farmers nationwide from many sources and different information channels, farmers are currently concerned about a number of specific issues.

The reconstruction and recovery of production after the natural disaster caused by Typhoon Yagi and the recent floods is getting attention. The major issues include providing support in terms of plants, seeds, agricultural inputs, and agricultural insurance support policies.

The most mentioned matter is the need to create conditions for debt forgiveness, debt extension and new capital loans for households directly affected by the recent storms and floods, helping them quickly restore production.

Other issues mention mechanisms and policies to promote green, sustainable agroproduction, reduce emissions towards the net-zero target, and production planning. Many farmers are also interested in mechanisms and policies to support and motivate farmers, including good farmers in production and business through activities of Farmers' Unions at all levels. Issues about supporting, building agricultural product brands, and promoting agricultural products on digital platforms are also topics that gain the interest of farmers.

Within the framework of the forum, the Organizing Committee will organize an exhibition booth to introduce the most modern digital technology equipment, an exhibition booth on drones, a tea and coffee tasting area, and an area displaying OCOP specialties from 3 stars or higher.
